Who are the club punishing then though?

After his ban Hock will inevitably be able to find another club willing to sign him so Wigan have 2 choices - they stand by him and IF he can prove he can stay clean they sign him again at the end of the 2 years, or they let him go and risk him coming back in 2 years and signing for another club and performing well for them.

What you are suggesting it wouldn't be Hock who lost out.

Terminate his contract and get rid, Use him as an example for the younger players, what example are we setting if after his ban is up he come back with open arms? IMO it gives Wigan RL a bad reputation as well as a bad example for the youth.

The example would be that he's been punished and banned for two years. He's lost a huge amount of money, respect from a lot of his peers, the RL 'family' and the fans. He'd have paid the price for his mistake.

Agreed, he can only do the punishment he has been given, if people think it is not enough then have a word with those who set it not Gaz.

Once he has done this then he is eligable to play like anyone else.

Gaz Hock took some none performance enhancing drugs.... whoopie friggin doo. 2 year ban is way over the top. Yes he was out of order and yes some punishment but not the public hanging wished for on here.
Other big named players have done worse... kick a door down and assault the occupant ~ no punishment from RL, 3 times over the drink drive limit putting lives at risk ( 3 big name stars ?) ~ no punishment from RL even the Refferee recently accused and cautioned with spot fine for drunken behaviour ~ no punishment by RL.
We are being governed by outdated laws with punishments and consequences often not fitting the crimes.

I don't agree with his views overall and think the ban is fair, and of course he knew all along what the consequences if he was caught are but your post is a joke I haven't see any signs of anyone saying what he has done is acceptable, or making any excuses for him. Perhaps some aren't being as judgemental as you would like but personally I think that is a good thing.

i keep reading in the papers that gareth hock is a drug cheat,this cannot be true because it wasn`t an enhancing drug
