lets step back and really look at what has been served up though , how many times have we all felt so dispondant that some have questioned if they can continue to turn up ??
lets be honest people, we have seen some dross , regardless of the results ,
i would rather see open , flowing , attacking , expansive , imaginative rugby and lose than the 5 drives and a kick to the corner poop that has been served up over the last 3 years'"
I think this has been somewhat overstated and was probably maybe attributed to the lack of cohesion in the halves... we are all entiteled to our own opinion and some are more willing to shift theirs than others... will a win against saints and warrington change your Stu??

| No thanks.
We're pretty much the best of the rest after Stains and Leeds, but yet again we don't show that over a season and will give ourselves too much to do in the play-offs because we haven't played to our potential overall.
Time for a fresh approach and some new ideas.

| There is no way in this day and age that a team will be turned around in a season or two, with the salary cap etc.
Wigan as a club was in a ridiculous position a few years ago, reasons for this are open for discussion, but lets not mince about, we were in the poop.
First port of call in sorting out the club is steadying the ship, which we had to do to keep SL status. The next thing is address the long term stability, i.e. make sure we get the structures right off the field. There's been a big gap in anyone of note coming through the ranks between the likes of Lockers and Sam.
A lot of work has been done around this, culminating in the Acadamy being one of, if not the best around. We've youngsters bursting onto the scene now.
On the first team front, bar the opening game of the season and a dismal effort against Celtic we've been there or there abouts. We've a solid defence and are scoring tries for fun from all across the park.
Noble, without a doubt has done a sterling job in getting Wigan back on track. But it's like turning around an oil tanker, it takes time. We're still not quite right on the playing staff front, but have a bit of money to spend now and a plethora of talented youth ready to push on. 2010 is the year that's been mentioned time and time again as the real measure. For this reason alone, I feel that Nobby should be given the opportunity to finish what he's started.

| Noble HAS to go.
The team that won last night and the way it played bear no relation to the team and tactics Noble started the season with. I don't think he has adapted, instead he has been forced by poor results and injuries to try different things and has now alighted on a winning formula almost by accident.
We've seen some great moves in recent weeks - Tomkins and Carmont last night linked up superbly - but were we practising any moves in training at the start of the season? It didn't look that way.
The enthusiasm of our young players is also masking some poor conditioning among some players - Riddell and Feka need to lose weight. Wigan's standards should be higher than they are and everyone should be forced to conform.

Deano, I agree with you entirely.
Last season, we found form at the end because injuries forced Nobby to play players who he wouldnt have played in a month of sundays.
Its the same this year. The players are performing DESPITE the coach not because of him. The energy levels last night were superb - espy when you compare them against the first 6 games of the year. the main difference - the youth element.

| ive always said if we get to the challenge cup final then noble should be offered another year, we're starting to play together now and have really been improving since we beat wakefield in the league, apart from celtic, ive been really impressed with how we have played over the last couple of months- we're a couple of players off being a really good side and if a top quality replacement aint available, weve got a more than adequate coach in charge! just sort that start of season form out!

| Noble has now a more settled team.
From 1-7 we know who will be playing where.
The first 8-10 games we had four full backs. BN & IL knew Gleeson was coming to the club but we didn't. If Gleeson and Roberts had been our right wing at Hull we would have won by a sizable margin.
We've had problems with our back row but Mossop being used as a fifth prop and powering up the middle has prevented our opposition from taking hold of the game. Leeds pack visibly tired last night due to the relentless power up the middle.
From 20 minutes gone and Buderus spelled our pack ran the shop.
Noble has built his sides on powerful forwards and if he keeps Mossop in the role he's playing now we will soon have that powerful front row we've all wanted.
I'd stick with Noble, a new coach could unsettle the team and cause all sorts of problems. Noble has brought us this far and the team is now looking good. A settled back line and forwards who can do the business with a couple of new players will do us fine.
Noble knows who the players are he wants.
It's up to Ian Lenagan to sign them, now that's a different matter altogether!

| Justin Morgan??????????????????????????
He is the opposite to Noble, his sides start well then tail off and play no part in the big end of season games. I know which half of the season I would rather have my team be playing well.
With the Latics playing at the JJB we always end up with something like (I am not sure of the exact numbers) 8 home games from the last 11 so that plays a part in losing a few games early on - tougher away from home.
If we were to win the CC and make the GF there is no way we can fire Noble. Saints/Leeds are the best 2 sides and have been for the past few years but slowly but surely we are catching them up. Our team on paper now can stand up to them and with 2 more bigger forwards we could be a real threat. Noble must take some credit with this as the squad he inherited was one of the worst in recent history.
The Academy/Reserve sides are both pretty successful so the club is not in as bad a state of some of you seem to think.

| If we can get a coach like Maguire in then, then i'd get a new coach. if no one of that calibre is available, i'd give Noble another year, I'm one of his biggest critics, but i can't help but think that at the beginning of the year we had Riddell and Smith in two of the creative positions of the pitch, who were both underperforming at that time. Now he has a settled team he is getting the results, the backs are quality now, and the forwards are just getting better and better.
However, someone at the game in front of me yesterday said the difference with wigan now is that we have more than just plan A, we have a B and C as well.
But for me that's down to Tomkins, not Noble.

| the problem is ted, that we have 5 forwards missing (lockers, bailey, mcilorum, hock. ocarrol)
in the past, the nominally better players would automatically be brought back in the team regardless of their form or the form of their replacements (eg the way in which sam was dropped for smith, and only major injuries and appalling form allowed him back in)
if nobby is still here next year, i am not confident that all the same old names will be back in the frame, and the youngsters will be told to wait their turn again. or that he will bring in new favourites who will be treated in the same way (ie favoured) eg if we have a full set of props, will he drop the 5th best ie fielden ?
nobby has proved good at managing the players when the best 17 are picked, unfortunately he doesnt appear to be as good at picking the best 17 himself
