He chumpster when you are in the championship next season Judas whelan will be thanking warriors fans giving money to his beloved stadium as most of the latics so called fan will go back to watching Man utd or Liverpool

Before anyone tears up their ticket for the West Stand there is a point to consider. It is named after Springfield Park but this is the ground that Wigan RLFC played at during the 1901/02 season. A season when we won the Lancashire Senior Competition - our first piece of silverware I believe (all long before Latics even existed). So for any rugby fan it can be viewed as a nod to the start of our climb to be the most succesful club ever. So even when trying to placate the Latics bandwagon jumpers DW has still been left with something that is part of Wigan RLFCs history.

Very good point, we played ast Springfield Park before Latics did. Therefore the East Stand is named after one of our legends, and the West Stand after one of our formere homes! |
