17064.jpg How can I miss you, if you won't go away????:17064.jpg |

| Quote: odemwingie "It's the same at every other club in your league I am sure. If you go down to aus and ask who the biggest club are they will say Wigan. Go to france and ask there, they will say Wigan. Ask the general public on this country and most will say Wigan. There are Wigan supporters all over the place. We are still the Man U or Real Madrid of the game but we have a naff team.'"
It is this attitude that is holding you back...You have to accept the game has moved on, and actually do something about it, instead of believing you have a God-given right to be the best.
Yes, you are a famous name, but it is all about your past ...You have all these splendid facts about your great history, and I certainly acknowledge its a great history, but unfortunately for you, the others caught up and overtook you.
Personally, I have great affection for Wigan...Growing up in the 70's as a Wire fan, I used to love the whole rivalry of the Wire-Wigan games and it actually saddens me when I see childish arguments break out on here among fans, because I seem to have this rose-tinted view that our rivalry was once almost respectful....
Of course, I always want to see Wire beat Wigan, but I would never describe you as a laughing stock....I just think some of you need to realise that the RL world doesn't start and finish in Wigan.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

I did not mention in my post that we have the right to be the best. I just said we have a naff team, we are still the biggest name in rugby league we just have a poor team of mostly average players. It is not all about our past either we have finished 3rd for the last 2 seasons which is better than most teams. I was not here to see most of our success so I don't know why all the wire fans think I am hung up on it.

| Have we become a laughing stock?
I don't think we have. I think it was a predictable scoreline from Wigan. I don't know why anyone was suprised. Take Hock, Lockers and Carmont out that 'team' and anyone who has watched Wigan this season will realise how much we would struggle.
The only part of this whole scenario I am embarrassed about is that Brian Noble is STILL in a job.

It's an attitude that seems to permeate the Wigan club. Time moves on, but you lot don't. You're stuck in the past and getting left behind.'"
That and the huge chip on the shoulder re: the Latics are the reasons why I like to laugh at Wigan quite a lot

| I think one of the problem's is people tend to live in the past, theirs no denying that Wigan were one of the great sides in Rugby League, and without question the history will always remain.
However it's 2009, the super league is the strongest and most competitive it has ever been and the fact it's so wide open and even is only good for the game. In the past Wigan dominated the league, and for a Wigan fan it was great but for everybody else it was just plain boring.
Now its different, we are behind alot of the others such as Saints, Leed's and we have struggled to keep up the pace with those sides.
The history the club has had makes expectancys so high and i think in the modern era unrealistic crazy for me to say maybe! but true.
Our team is talented but in short not good enough on a consistent basis to get anywhere.
The only thing making us a big club is the name Wigan, rather than the players that we have!
So where do we go from here? Lenagans in a bit of a situation, does he sack Noble now? or wait till the end of the season when his contract runs out anyway?
Sacking him now in the short term would be good as we would have this winning streak as is always seems to be the case with a new man, however what about the long term? would we be better off?
My take on all of this is seeing it out till the end of the season and make the change then!, if need be. Doing it now wouldn't acheive anything? we aint gonna win the league and if we make the playoffs its likely to be the last position if we make it at all!
Losing yesterday was bad, and no disrespect to The Crusaders who were fantastic, but the attitude was wrong, and the players didn't really do the basics right.
So yes stick with what we have till the end of the season and then i would expect Noble to go! hes linked with the NRL or was?

What is more embarrasing is those fans who believe that the CURRENT TEAM is of TOP 4 standard.
