I can't stand the man, but he has been a great player for Warrington.

I know enough about rugby league to know that "Good un's" prove themselves above what they do for their club alone, it's about their attitude for the game, their fellow players, how they impact the sport with their talent, oh yes Lee has that talent, always has, but has never used it properly, or ever done his self justice, a good rugby brain, but an attitude that stinks at times, if he had applied himself to 50% of other half backs of the last 10 years he would have been a walk in for GB, but he never did, did he, and that is a great shame, but shows he is a good player, but never a "Good un"` as we know it.

| Briers also told the ball boy off for getting the ball back too quickly when they were having a rest behind the sticks.

| Quote: Ged Byrne's Shammy "Why this comes a surpise is beyond me, this idiot has never been any different, there have been lots of threads about the most hated players etc etc, and this idiot is always number 1, 3rd one into every tackle, niggling digs in the tackle, and the first one to leg it, in the modern day, the most annoying player and one of the biggest wan@**s, bar none.'"
This is a thread about Lee Briers, not Terry Newton.
Though I don't personally know if he's a wan@**, I've never met him, though it's my guess that he does indulge in a bout of choking the chicken once in a while, so he probably is.

He hasn't, he's flattered to deceive a lot of the time. He's shown flashes of brilliance, but he's not been consistent enough and has far too many flaws in his game to be regarded as a great.

Did you actually watch the game? Noble had Hock running at Briers at every opportunity (which makes a change from Fielden), the simple fact of the matter is, we, as a team, ensured one player did not get isolated in defence.

| Hock ran at Westwood every time from what I saw, didn't even manage an offload.
0 line breaks in 2 games, tells our story of forwards impact.

| Quote: Ashton Warrior "Anyone notice him playing with a bit of aggression on Friday towards Sam Tomkins? When Sam was on the floor, Briers would start grabbing him by the collar trying to hurt him i guess, in the first half.
However when Sam got up and said something, I didnt see it happen again. Was Briers trying to prove some kind of point that he is stronger than a young kid in his debut season?
Pr*ck.'"
A legitimate tactic in a bilateral contest surely? Business is business.
Anyhow, some of the bigger guys should be protecting our playmakers from such tactics.

| Quote: Ged Byrne's Shammy "Bitter???
Don't be daft, I have been watching Wigan since 73, and have seen much better players than Briers, and he's no artful dodger, oh by the way for you people who have little class or brains, he was the one who did use his back pocket very well, and apart from that, we know we are average, have been for a while, it's you guys who think every year is a winning year, and you should be used to the let down of winning nothing for years, big signings, the year of the wolf, get a grip guy, like us at the moment, you're average, the difference is this year, we have a reasonable chance of reaching Wembley, your team has no chance, none at all. [list'"
Very bitter... and I guess if we are average, it make you below average.. must try harder!
Anyway back to the thread... If Warrington had a young half back do you not think your boys would have tried to "rough him up" a bit? It is part of the game get over it!

Well said... I had exactly the same thoughts about Edwards, purely because he killed us so often...

| What I saw was Tomkins loosing his cool on several occassions rather than Briers winding him up and in the matches I have seen him in , all on tv apart from the hj match and friendly is that he can give as good as he gets.
However I was disappointed with his performance, although behind a beaten pack , he does not look like half the player that Myler is imo.
