| Yeah but that's my point - They'll turn up the week after, sure, but that's just to see how Wigan are getting on... if they're winning, they stay till the end, all's well again and they are the most loyal fans on the earth and love the f*****g pants off the players - But if they're loosing... they leave.
Then comes the following week... Oh, Wigan have god suchabody this week... Off they trot to the ground, see how there getting on, 'Ohh there winning! yey! let's stay till the end and clap em' off!' ...
Following week, Wigan are loosing, 'BALLS TO THIS! NEVER WATCHING THEM AGAIN! LETS GO!'
But there back again... seeing how they do... ? they're winning = Stay ... They're loosing = Leave.

When your loyal, it means your faithful, you devote yourself - Yesterday, I saw people with '18 Loyal' on their back, leaving 20minutes before the game ended - That aint loyal...
Yeah, your right, you pay for your ticket & that gives you the right to do whatever you like, simple as - But don't call yourself a Wigan fan, because your not - Like i said, a fan is someone who sticks by their side, through the good times/bad times - Gives them a chance - Stays till the end to clap their team off...'"
These types really get my goat, no matter how poor the performance they clap and cheer the team like lemmings. If you want to praise mediocrity support Oldham. We are Wigan RLFC and for over 100 years this club has been the shining light in the sport, the best of the best, the 2nd most successful and decorated sporting club in the world. (2nd to Rangers FC).
We are Wigan RL, we expect.

| After watching poor displays, in anger ive said the exact same "im not coming watching this crap again".... but ill be there the next game....
and i can bet many people in here have said the same thing?
When your team is underperforming it is frustrating and fans will react in many different ways! some people are willing to stay... some will be angry, leave , maybe boo... like i've said, i dont personally leave early but i wont hold it against someone who does.

I don't always clap, but I always stay.
If the performance warrants applause (win or lose) it gets it. (leeds in the cup and playoffs for example)
If the performance doesn't warrant applause, it doesn't get it (hudds at home for example)

| I regularly leave early. In fact yesterday I left the game with almost ten minutes to go. It doesn't mean I'm not a fan. It means I leave early.

Is it not?
Do you ever go to concert? the theatre? and then give a rousing applause at the end even though what you saw was awful?

| It's not in the same context.
The whole setting for a rugby game and your 'team' is different to that of the theatre and an 'act' - So, that's why it's different. I couldn't relate the two - and to be honest mate, this is going off course now.
If I went watching an act at a concert, say the arctic monkeys for example, and I had the loyalty for the arctic monkeys as I do for Wigan, then yes, I'd still applaud them regardless, because that's what a loyal fan does... I wouldn't boo them, I'd applaud them, and have the faith in them.
Just like I have faith in Wigan, I wouldn't judge them, boo them off, leave early whether it be after 1 game or 8 games... It's just not something you do to a team you follow.

| I do stay to the end of every game, win, lose or draw,
I clap the players at the end of every game, win, lose or draw,
That is what a loyal supporter is all about supporting the team through good and bad times.

Why should Wigan RL or whomever be any different? Does it not make you gullible if your behaviour is dictated by blind loyalty. The nearest one should get to blind loyalty is your family and to put a sporting team on the same pedastal seems very unhealthy.
For the record I do not boo the team. I have left early on occasions irrespctive of whether Wigan are winning or losing simply to escape the traffic. I would never dictate what other fans should do though. They pay their money and a free to do as they please.

Do you attend every game?
Do you attend reserve/academy fixtures?
How far do you have to trvel to watch Wigan RL?
Are Distant Supporters beeter by definition than Wigan Resident Supporter?
Why should supporters not express their feelings positive or negative?
Does it matter what you wear?
Does it matter how much you spend?
Who created this hierarchy of fans?
Or are we talking cliches a bit like Brian Noble does.

For your information,
Yes I do attend every home match
I attend as many acad/res fixtures as work permits
I live in wigan now but have been in HM Forces for a good few years so I have traveled a fair few miles to watch wigan play over the years
if you support a team why boo them when they lose, thats not showing loyalty
who gives a crap what I wear or how much I spend , thats being a bit childish aint it????

The questions were general questions JF Bet you missed a few matches serving in the forces though. Now I do not think there is anything wrong with that but some might
Personally, I think supporters creating any hierachy of loyal ness / true supporterish is a bit silly. Each to their own IMO.

| i know this post has gone off the rails a little, but it really does annoy me when people leave early when were winning or if where getting beat, what do you achieve by leaving early.
the only other thing i wanna say is if your a fan you try and get behind your team and encourege them, not boo and cheer when someone catches the ball after one game in hard conditions its abit pathetic.
