| Whilst I have every sympathy for anyone in any sport effected by these types of issues it does smack of trying to use todays knowledge to apply to what happened in the past which seems to be a societal thing at the moment.
I am not sure exactly what they are trying to achieve beyond making some money and possibly bankrupting the already pretty poor RFL, trying to raise awareness would seem pointless as that is already the case as witnessed by the major improvements in on field care and then off field care and protocols which are may ahead of what happened in their days.

| Perhaps if he didn’t like having a punch up every so often he wouldn’t have had so many head knocks?

I agree it's quite worrying. So what do the RFL do? Change the rules to an automatic red card or something for a head shot? There are a lot of footballers going to court for the same thing about heading the ball, do you think they will get anywhere? Should we ban boxing? or do you think the government and courts will single out a sport that doesn't produce hundreds of millions per year? Boxing and football bring in a hell of a lot of revenue so why would they change the rules. Rugby league would be easy to point fingers at and could effectively become a scapegoat. One thing in our favour is that we have Rugby Union. The toffs love Union so any changes forced on Rugby League would have to filter through to Union too. Be interested to hear what some of the older heads on here think about all this. I am 36 so all i have known is Rugby from the 90s onwards but reading accounts from players from the 60's and 70's you got smashed in every tackle whether you were a prop or winger.

Love watching the old finals back. Goulding left Wigan and just seemed to become a very angry man. I remember watching the u20s final at Leigh about 6 or 7 years ago. His son was playing for Warrington and Goulding (snr) was thrown out for starting a fight in the stands. He is an absolute diving header that mon.

| Goulding is a first class bell end . Moaning about what multiple concussions have caused him. Is this the same guy who used to punch at least one opponent in the head every match ?

Been around him 3 x times in my life
All 3 times he was an absolute bell end
1st time Mike Gregory and Dennis Betts came over to get him away from starting a fight, bought us some drinks and threw him out of a pub (1991ish)
2nd time he thought he'd get his revenge and king hit my mate in a pub from behind (He was with Botica and and his wife and after my got up and pummelled him we had a chat with Botica and he explained he was always like that)
3rd time at Mike Greg's funeral, he stayed behind in the pub when all the other players left to walk to the church/funeral. He (and 2 other players, 1 of which won't surprise you) came in 10mins or so after the funeral started, stood at the back and spent the next 15 mins or so burping and making stupid noises trying to make everyone laugh.
Horrible bloke
