It was on Wanes Hull preview on Wigan TV. .... He said Macs out of plaster and put in on some size in the gym still a chance of him being back and it's just great to have him round the place.

Wane did mention it, though not the August bit. He also seemed to say that Joel would not be playing this week, saying we still have three big players out Faz, Flower and Joel but he's happy it's not the ten players of the last month or so. You can never tell with players mentioned in Wanes interviews but I can't see a reason for him mentioning Mac without some substance.

Saw Mickey mac last night he looks really well,still got a "sticking" plaster on tthe wound but he looks in fine fettle otherwise.

Will he be back? who knows the man is made out of something from another world.

I agree with that. There has been some criticism about the lack of aggression in our forwards. I think some of that has been a bit overstated but I do think that when MM is on the field his agressive go-forward leadership sets the tone for others.

He said last night that "he's 12 weeks in and is about half way" so August is probably about right.

He's our first choice hooker - of course we've missed him. But let's not kid ourselves, MM brings some aggression to the team, but that's about it...

It isn't just what he brings though, it's what he gets out of those around him. His aggression spreads and his line speed in defence drags others with him. He may not take 20 scoots out of dummy half per game but he's also far more impressive with ball in hand then Powell so we're missing him very badly indeed.

Along with Lockers and in time hopefully Sam Tomkins he's one of our three most important players. If we can get him back before the end of the year we'll be in much better shape.

I think we have missed MM more than any of us realised. Powell is a decent squad player at best, his lack of urgency and distribution from dummy half is poor. MM may not be the best ball handler but is far superior to Powell. I think the distribution Fromm dummy half is the single biggest reason out attack is faltering this season.

MM's distribution is hardly stellar - I think it's more our forwards have been battered which doesn't give the backs any chance to get a roll on... I've got to give Powell some slack too as it's a big job for a young kid to play that role all season in such an average side.

MM would help our battered forwards no end. You wouldn't have seen two pretty meek forwards in aggression terms in Watts and Taylor bossing our lot about had MM been getting in to their ribs every set of six.
