| At a bare minimum, we need to try something different in the halves.

Well he's certainly due a stormer, because he hasn't had one for about 2 years...
I don't think there's any easy answer to the OP's question. In the short term we can't panic and as bad as the result was yesterday there have been some way OTT reactions. We shouldn't be getting nilled or shipping 60 odd points against anyone but with the amount of salary cap sat on the sidelines plus the bug that went round disrupting training yesterday was never going to go well IMO. Start getting a few bodies back over the next few weeks and things start looking better already. For all the hysteria around a very bad performance (credit to Wakey by the way - no sour grapes/excuses here) we're still 2 points off top.
Long term I think there are definitely fundamental issues regarding recruitment, coaching, training etc that we're not getting right. I don't think there's an easy fix tbh.

There were 13 players in the side at Wakey who are part of our 25 nominated first team players including six England internationals. We may have 10 out technically but since we can't take 23 first team players to a game and we know MM is out for the season and Sam T wasn't due back this "we had 10 out" reads lamer every time I see it mentioned.

I'd say we definitely have 9 players out and possibly 10 if Crosby is included at the expense of Sutton. I'm not sure why mentioning that is 'Lame'.
Dan Sarginson - TOMKINS
Lewis Tierney - MANFREDI
Jack Higginson - GELLING
Oliver Gildart
Josh Charnley
Nick Greyson - WILLIAMS
Matty Smith
Tony Clubb
Sam Powell - McILLORUM
Lee Mossop
Joel Tomkins
Willie Isa - FARRELL
Ryan Sutton - O'LOUGHLIN
Taulima Tautai
Greg Burke - BATEMAN
Joe Bretherton - FLOWER
Jack Wells - CROSBY????

IMO 9 or 10 of those players would make our best 17 if fit (with the possible exception of Crosby depending on form), it's a perfectly valid point. In fact we weren't far off having a better team in the stands than on the pitch! What is apparent is that Smith, Mossop and J.Tomkins won't step up when the usual leaders (Lockers, McIlorum, S.Tomkins) are missing. Particularly disappointing given pre-season was supposedly ed around developing leaders

It's been the same all year. It's a crime to state injruies as an excuse for us looking rusty but winning. Those injuries have now gone on to a totally different level and whilst you can't excuse a defeat of that proportion there's no need to start thinking we're dead in the water this season with no hope when we have an absolute mountain of quality players to come back.
The big issue for me isn't the quantity of injuries, it's the quality. I would litterally say we have our best 7 or 8 players missing. If we had 10 players out but it was a mixture of lads like Lockers and Sam Tomkins along with some younger players or edge squad players like Burke and Isa we'd cope much much better but the heart has literally been ripped out of the side. It feels as though our main attacking weapons, our most aggressive players, our leaders, our main metre makers and so on are all sat in the stands at the minute and that's because they are.
Is it excuses? Maybe but it's also the facts. I'll wait to see what happens with a first choice (ish) line up before passing too many judgements.

| On the virus issue, I seem to remember in the dim-and-distant that if a club couldn't field a team because of illness (certified by doctors 'notes'), as opposed to 'injury' then that club could seek a postponement.
Was that indeed the case, and if it was, is it still the case today?
If so, and the virus was as bad as Rads says it was, why was the game played?

Can't win either way - complaints from both sets of fans as it would necessarily have been short notice, plus the rearranged fixture would create problems at the business end of the season.

Didn't Salford get refused a postponement last year when they had players missing through injury?
Eight of Wigans Grand Final 2015 starting X111 were missing yesterday.
