Completely disagree. IMHO Scott Logan went well for us the season he was here.

Quote: Finfin "A bit of fun on a boring Tuesday afteroon.

Our worst ever antipodean team

Murray
Henley-Smith
Vialeki
Bailey (expect some feedback from this one)
Koloi
Moran
Tim Smith

Goldspink
Reber
Davico
Seu Seu
Nadiole
Tatupu

Subs

Seu Seu and Withers dont deserve to be in there IMO

For me Id go with

1. Doc Murray
2. David Vaeleki (out of position but surely deserving of a place)
3. Jamie Ainscough
4. Paul Koloi
5. Lusi Sione
6. Greg Florimo
7. Denis Moran
8. Shem Tatupu
9. Mark Reber
10. Lee Hansen
11. Stuart Lester
12. Brady Mallam
13. Gael Tallec

That side would get pasted by South Wales Scorpions!! icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif Worryingly half the team are from the 1997-9 seasons which shows what a gash recruitment policy we had at that time!!

How could I forget those 2 greats, Malam and Lester? Personally I have a soft soft for Jamie Ainscough, once he shaved his moustache off his performances improved no end. And I'll let you have Tallec as an honorary antipodean.

How can you say Amos Roberts is a bit of a Jonker? icon_iamwithstupid.gif He was a fantastic player before he got injured playing us last year. A brilliant player and I would love him to come and play at Wakefield! Injuries like he got take ages to heal properly and although has been very limited this year, I am sure he will pull through for next year and will be a threat once again in the league. chillpill.gif

He's had 11 decent games in 3 years and at times has been more than abismal.

What about Gavin Clinch. When Wigan won SL in 1998 Halifax had come 3rd and Clinch had been possibly the best overseas signing in 1998. Wigan signed him when Fax got into financial troubles next year and it was seen as quite a good signing at the time but he just didn't do it for Wigan.

I seem to remember reading a letter in one of the papers like League Express or Total Rugby League at the time, during that 1999 season, when Wigan had been linked with Allan Langer but then Warrington signed him for the next year (helped by the fact Daryl Van de Velde knew him) and some Wigan fan wrote into the paper saying what a farce it was that Wigan had let Warrington sign Langer and were left with Gavin Clinch at halfback.

In fairness, instead of Langer Wigan then signed Willie Peters from Gateshead to replace Clinch who went to Huddersfield-Sheffield, and although Peters overall career was a disappointment considering the high hopes people had of him as a junior, I thought his year at Wigan he was a good player, and Wigan replaced him with Lam who I reckon was possibly the best halfback of the SL era.

I was going to comment on Roberts! Overall unless he performs as he did at the start of the season before last next year...he will be a massive disapointment, but that is mainly due to injury, and he does have undoubted class, something the others dont. To put him in an all time poor team is a little harsh IMO.

Also disagree with Phelps who was a very good utility signing I thought!

Matthew Johns and Phil Bailey are also a little harsh in the original guys list.....Matty Johns never lived up to rep but was still half decent, as was Phil Bailey....Unfortunately Bailey came to us at the wrong time as far as he was concerned....he was always going to be looked at as a poor mans Bryan Fletcher. Given how immense Fletcher was it was always going to be difficult following in those footsteps, in the same way SoL has always been unfairly judged on Farrells standards. Had Bailey come into the team before Fletcher while not being classed as a world beater, he would have been deemed a decent signing

Shane Millard has to be in there somewhere. Along with that fullback we signed under Millward who could only play Mondays and Wednesdays before 6pm due to religion or something ....

He wasn't that bad! I thought we missed him the season after he left because all we had was Higham and McIlorum, and Higham was never going to control a game like Millard could.
