39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good

sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-

| I have been saying on the Widnes board for years that they should be in super league! They would be one of the bigger clubs has they rightfully been kept in all this time!
Not a bad day out and the Widnes fans were great.
"Bang bang bang bang.... get into um!"

On thread drift:
[quote="tb":24qn1m99]Tough. Conversations develop. It's their nature.[/quote:24qn1m99]
Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”
[i:24qn1m99]There's a Wooly over there, baggy kecks and feathered hair
with a 3 star jumper half way up his back, that’s a fecking Wooly back![/i:24qn1m99]
[b:24qn1m99]Oooh-to… Oooh-to-be… Oooh-to-be-a… WOOLY![/b:24qn1m99]:24307.jpg |

| Our attendance was worrying. I expected more too.
The interest in the game in Widnes is dying. Licencing is killing interest in the game in the Championship. We’ve lost 800 fans this season and we’re still the best supported club at this level.
Scary stuff from our point of view.

Very true... It is a worry that fans are not coming back, it's bad for clubs who could actually have potential but don't get chance to show it.

| great support for the widnes team from the fans that actually turned up , but i was expecting a lot more ??
where are they all ?
yes the result was a foregone conclusion , but i would have expected a rugby loving town to turn out and watch a superleague team ??
unfortunatley , i really do think you will struggle on that amount of support if you get a franchise , hope im wrong though
another issue was after the game , the east stand? behind the sticks where the wigan fans where , the stewards refused to open the gates at the bottom of the stand to let people out , this was a really poor decision in my view and is a big accident waiting to happen having so many people waiting on steps to go through a small exit under the stand

| Should we see Super League you can stick an extra 2,000 on the gates straight away. Pepe is right the game is dying below the top flight. We just need the nod and they will come back. Were still the best supported club outside the top flight.

The kick off time was plain daft! Would have been a bigger crowd on Sunday at 3pm or even earlier on a Saturday Night.

| The problem is Widnes have not been in Superleague for 5 yrs so interest will be lost.I know several people say they wont go unless in superleague.I admit i pick my games as fed up of the poor atmosphere and away support.I think if wakey, cas, salford, saints etc would lose interest if have nothing to play for.We also have to look at the cost to get in for a championship game against batley is shocking.Problem is too many support liverpool, everton, man utd at football and rather watch that than widnes.People are fed up of championship rugby.I can bet my house attendances would treble if was in superleague competitive. If we had players like yours more be interested in watching widnes.I get annoied hearing people say we are a joke cos in the championship. Anyway well done yesterday.

| Went with my mate from L'pool, who had never been to a rugby league match in his life. He was very impressed the way both sets of fans were getting on so well in the social club before the game and the friendliness of people after the game. I've often thought in the past few years that there is a small but growing band of tools watching rugby league so I was slightly concerened my mate might have witnessed some stupidity, but credit to both sets of fans last night.

| The fact the Widnes team was depleted may have turned a few locals away, no fun in watching your kids get beaten massively and having to pay for the privelidge.

| Enjoyed match even though one sided. Just want to thank the staff at the stadium as son was on crutches and they could not do enough for him.

The stewards were really good! We were singing to the guy at the front and he just joined in with the banter!
The only problem with that ground is that 20min wait for a wee wee.

| Haven't read the thread, but spoke to a few Widnes fans and basically said that I want them in SL.
They have a better grouund than Leeds, Saints, Bradford, Salford, Castleford, Wakefield, Hull KR and Warrington (imo) and a better following than Salford, Castleford, Wakefield, Crusaders and at the mo Bradford.
Like it or not, they are a backbone of the history of our game. They SHOULD be in the top flight.

Couldn't agree more mate. Whether the RFL also agree is another matter entirely though!

| The RFL are too busy promoting Crusaders who had 1,800 at their cup tie yesterday (Sunday).
