All away again, great.

Saints and Lobbys will go to, then maybe one of the others. See what the cash flow is at the time.

I hope it's a little warmer in Leigh this time. Last seasons preseason friendly was the coldest I've been for a long time.

[quote="kimmo":19twb50c]your 6 7 and 9 this year will kill you off you will not make the play offs ,keep this post untill the end of the year and then we will come back to it and the best man wins ,deal or no deal .[/quote:19twb50c]:

We need as many pre season games as possible this year. Its going to take a good few games for Maguires tactics, techniques and training plans to bed in.

I just hope we start throwing the ball round in these fixtures and try a range of different attacking moves. It will make a nice change to the dross 4 drives and a kick style of rugby Nobby had us playing.

I think it was mentioned by Ian Millward in the coverage of the Eng v Aus game. There was a move put on by the Ausies with 2/3 players around the ruck with some slick short passing that resulted in a break. Millward mentioned that it was a Melbourne Storm move. Hopefully we can replicate some of that this season.

Not sure if it was the little move that resulted in Inglis's non try but it was a beauty(bar the grounding which watching again is a disgusting decision). The inside ball from Thurston to Hayne was superb and shows that you'll cause any defence problems if you have runners.

Even England caused the Aussies no end of problems when we had the energy and the runners were charging through.

Our support play has to improve hugely. If it does we'll have a good side next year.

A purple patch inspired on his home ground by man of the match WIGAN CAPTAIN Sean O’Loughlin produced three tries in an eight-minute spell just before half-time, and the GB Lions added two more after the break to maintain Smith’s 100 per cent record as Great Britain coach. Sat 27th April 2002 St Helens 12 Wigan 21 Edinburgh - Sat 4th May 2002 Celtic 2 Rangers 3 Glasgow (Carlsberg dont do weeks, but if they did.....) //www.internationalrugbyleague.net/:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_36409.jpg

You say that like your suprised. When was the last time that we had a home friendly that wasnt at Orrell or because it was a players testimonial. I seriously cant remember. Personally i dont think there is any point in having a friendly at the JJB/DW though to open a 4/5 empty stadium

I would over liked to have seen the Saints game @ home, 1st pre season game under the new regieme + it being against Saints. I think if priced right it could be near a full house.

come on the lads !:

I don't agree with playing friendlies against super league teams we should be putting money in the kitties of teams like swinton and oldham, i'm sure they would appreciate it more , look what happened at wire last seaon.

I dont know about that mate to be honest. I supose it would depend on what kind of teams they would both put out. I still very much doubt we would though. I am going to the Saints friendly but i dont think ill bother with any of the others this year to be honest. Leigh and Wire friendlys were just boring last year but to be fair made me really look forward to our first competative match against Wakey.... DOH!!!! icon_lol.gif

Yeah, right. Like £1 a ticket?

P.S. Keeping it away from Robin Park means keeping money away from DW.

Four pre season friendlies does seem like a lot but I suppose MM will use every player we have from the first team right through to even some of the under 18's if needs be.

No doubt he'll want to see every player in action with the team getting more experienced players in it as the games go by.

Saints are charging £15 for the christmas derby. Or £12 if you buy in advance.

McGuire states that they are playing so many games so he can "try out a few combinations and look at the whole squad so that we are fully prepared come the first weekend of the competition.”.
