| As for Noble, in LE today, he admits him and IL don't get on and it almost sounds like IL ignores him. He also says he has turned down numerous jobs to focus on the play offs, to me it sounds like he wants to stay, but I dont see how its possible that he will.
I fully expect the IL cheerleaders to accuse him of lying yet again, because he cant possibly have been mistreated in this situation can he?

| That article is pretty certain Noble will be coach at Celtic next year with Harris as his assistant.
I do hope IL has a top class coach and assistant lined up to replace Noble.

| Quote: AJ "The lack of improvement in the squad for 2010 doesn't.
I know what I heard in the interview, his "thats the future of Wigan RL" answer 3 times, was both smug & arrogant. Perhaps its a misconception of how he is in his and the clubs daily affairs, BUT with regards this issue, he is being arrogant.'"
If you perceive that his refusal to talk about next season's business before this season is concluded as arrogant, then I think you're very easily bruised. That reads to me as if, as fans, you feel we have a right to know almost everything and regard him as bang out of order for not telling us.
My response to that is that he's clearly made a judgement call on this, based on what he considers to be the best way forward. He may be right, he may be wrong. As I've said in other posts, I'm getting concerned about it. But I'm sure he's not doing this out of some bloody-mindedness or some twisted desire to keep us fans in the dark unnecessarily.
We need to keep things in perspective. Of more concern to me than his attitude, which I've never regarded as arrogant when he's done the forums or given other interviews in the past (though I wouldn't be surprised if some RL journos were getting under his skin by now) is that a real sense of anticipation is being created, which may ultimately prove to be a big let-down. From that point, he'll struggle to win people over whatever he does.
All will certainly be forgiven if we appoint someone good. Our squad has sufficient talent in it to go places with a very good coach at the helm. But those who want Shaun Wane in the job are reacting with emotion rather than logic, I feel. And it will worry me a lot if the Wigan board do the same thing.

Its not to do with wanting to know, we have different opinions on how IL has and will continue to treat fans, we have done that to death and I see no point in carrying it on. In my opinion, he came off as arrogant last night in his interview, you trying to turn that on me, wont change my mind.
I dont think its bloody mindedness nor twisted, but I think he has got it wrong.

It will take a certain amount of spin to make the situation positive if we go with untried and Forshaw and somekind of assistant. I will back Wane and im sure 99% of fans will, despite being disapointed, but if its Wane I hope a strong back room staff is put together to help including an overhaul of the conditioning staff.

I disagree with regards the squad, we are badly lacking one or two "rough nuts" in the pack, something IL has failed to deliver. I dont see how any coach will improve dramatically on what Noble has done this year. We are losing Smith/Hock and possibly Bailey from the squad, to not replace them and go with a untried coach is brave bordering on insanity...

I dont think we need to think about Kearney

| Apols for not reading whole thread, but does Wane have experience as an assistant or just as reserve team coach?
I accept he has a big rep with the players, but it would be a gamble IMO. I'd certainly rather see him get the job than an NRL coach.

I will back Wane too, but I'll be disappointed and will worry that it's an unadventurous appointment at a time when Wigan clearly need something different and exciting - such as someone schooled in the NRL.
Given that we finished 6th, even with Noble in charge, I don't think we'd have to improve 'dramatically' - as you put it, to get into the top 4. I agree, we need at least two new players (and I mean good 'uns), but even without those, replacing Noble - who I firmly believe has found his true level with Wigan, which is mid-to-upper table - with a much better coach, I'm sure we can strike for silverware.

| Did anyone else spot Jon Sharp at the game yesterday?
I seen him in the carpark by the Soccerdome and I'm guessing he was going to the DW Stadium.

He's going to be announced as the new Cas coach this week.
