| Quote: stillinthepast "It is not only RL fans who should be involved in any protest against Sky, football fans should be involved as well, when you see the amount of money going into the Premier League every year ( I think it is app £35 Million per CLUB this year) and basic season tickets touching a £1000.00 per season at clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea means that any protest by RL fans would be laughed at. When you see the astronomical wages paid to soccer players and the parasitic agents acting as blood suckers nothing will change with Sky until you form a united front.
I know this seems far fetched but if soccer fans threatened to withdraw their subscriptions (call Skys bluff) and at the same time if soccer fans did not send the season ticket renewal forms back by the required date, ( the offers that say that you get app 5% off the full price), A protest like this would make them think.
If this was to happen Sky, the Clubs, over paid players and parasitic agents would Squeal.
It would more that likely never happen but if someone far more intelligent than me could put these type of suggestions on the net it could snowball.'"
I have just noticed that my post was split, I must have hit the submit button half way through my post instead of preview.
But like I have said the only thing that scares the people I have mentioned is that they not like anything that effects their bloated lifestyle.

| Fully sympathise with you on this but Sky know they can get away with anything now because without them we're done for.
I suspect your game is Thursday to accommodate them showing a footy game, as that is the weekend the Football League starts so footy will take priority.

Why would we be done for without them? If it's their second most watched league, surely other channels would also be interested? BBC2 have sod all on a Friday night*, how good would it be if they stuck the rugby on? That could really put us on the map!
*tonight it's live athletics (a one off as the London Aniversary games are on), Gardeners World, Springwatch Guide to Butterflies and Moths and a repeat of an episode of the Trip, in which Steve Coogan reviews restaraunts. I know we're biased but surely a game of rugby league is better than that! Especially when you take out the athletics which aren't normally on

| Grimmy you are right a game of RL would be better than anything else they put on and I quite like the BBC's coverage (minus Jonathan Davies!) but has any other channel got the money to fund a deal?

| Don't they have the broadcast rights till 2016 anyeay?
So any talk of other potential channels isn't going to happen any time soon.

| We aren't helpless.
It's us that spend on beer, pies, club shirts and turn up on a wet cold Friday against London when nobody in the telly cares.
It's our kids that walk down the street wearing club shirts and advertising the sponsors.
But most importantly it's us that shout cheer and give the game an atmosphere, whithout us it rugby in an vacuum.

| Stop watching sky is about the only thing that can be done. Cancel sky sports and get premier.
The problem is that like myself plenty of rugby fans also watch cricket, football, union etc etc

If you want to do something that will take notice cancel Sky and state that you can not abide them messing the rugby around or words that effect. I already have but said it was because of their coverage which was diabolical and as it was the only reason I got it and am not watching it seems a bit stupid.
If enough people do it somewhere along the line they will be forced to listen.'"
Catch 22 for me and Ross . It's not the cost (loss of games attended) of the season tickets thats the problem with us its the amount of time off work required to attend widweek matches 2 days (min 1.5) per match unless i drive home after match (400 mile round trip) and start work at 5:30am. Finish early on a Friday which is ideal .That over the last few weeks adds up to a lot of annual leave and its only going to get worse . Cancel Sky and we dont get to see the matches we miss.

| What is wrong is that the decision by Sky to have games on a Thursday is that it has been made during the latter part of the season and not before the start of the season when supporters were buying season tickets and would know how it affected them in the purchase of a season ticket.
This decision will only lead to less crowds and less season tickets being sold.

| What will happen if the LLS has not been decided?
Will Warrington and/or Huddersfield expect to play on Thursday too?
Or will they ask all 3 teams to revert to Friday fixtures?

Plus if there is a mass cancellation, and thus lower viewing figures, RL becomes worth less to any broadcaster in 2016, Sky could offer less and everyone else could follow suit. A way to stop it would be to not watch the games on Thursdays on tv, if a lot of people did that (I doubt they would) then Sky might see it doesn't work and revert to Fri/Sat/Sun.

If I was in your shoes I'd be picking and choosing my matches.

We dont want to become part time supporters . Love the game and Wigan RL in particular too much . But sadly it might have to come to that or even worse .

Joking apart, the picking and choosing matches is gonna have to be the option, ive started doing it this season but purely down to the lack of entertainment at 60% of home matches.
You may not want to become a part time fan but lets be honest, whether its the rfl, sky or wigan's fault you and the folk that travel distances like you do are getting pi55ed on and theres only so many times you can tolerate it..
see you at wembley then

| Hopefully the change in structure will help bring some if the crowds back. With only 12 teams the standard should increase and with a top 6 playoff, finishing in the top 2 becomes very important again, especially finishing top with it guarenteeing a home semi with a home semi 2nd chance if you lose the first.
