| The Groupon thing was a fiasco in the East stand. upon entering we were told by 3 stewards to go to the end block where all Giants fans were being allowed to sit together, "dont worry about reserved seats just sit where you like" we were told - so we did. 5 minutes into the game and a few latecomers decided they wanted the exact seat that had bought which then caused the stewards to have to ask people sat in them to move, obviously the ones in that seat didnt want to as they were sat with their mates etc and told the stewards that we had been told to bugger the reserved bit and sit where you like. still the latecomers wanted their seats and were starting to kick up a fuss, so the stewards eventually decided to ask all Giants fans sat there to move before anymore Wigan fans kicked off about away fans being in that stand, one of the stewards who had told us to sit anywhere said he didnt realise that so many away fans had bought the deal and thats why it became an issue!!
...so we were all shoved into the North, which then created more problems as most went to sit with the main bulk of Giants fans near the back and couldn't all find seats......anyway it all worked out well in the end and i only paid £ 7.50 so i aint complaining.

To be fair at least the Stewards let you switch stands, i was quite surprised they did this. Stewards are normally jobsworths and will find any health and safety regulation they can to stop things like this happening.

Think it was cos the wigan fans were complaining about us being in that stand and telling the stewards to 'kick em out' - maybe they sensed it could have deterioted into something worse so best to get us 'out of the way'.

They should have put the netting across half the north stand and let you have half the North as your own section, would have improved the atmosphere ten fold and stopped all the hassle of moving people.

| I presumed they would as it seems that has been the norm at your home games recently.

Wigan put on a promotion to attract more than the normal 200 or so Hudds fans for a top of the table clash. Then stewards apply some common sense to allow away fans to sit together, first in the East and then in North. There were still plenty of seats available in the North so there was no issue there. Then Hudds play well and win to stay top with the real prospect now of winning a trophy for the first time in donkeys years and all you do is find something to moan about! Unbelievable. I can understand you thinking the North stand was pretty full which it wasn't but I suppose you are used to being able to wander around an empty stadium. One whiff of success and you lot start turning bitter and twisted. Enjoy the success while it lasts cos it only comes around every 81 years apparently. Perhaps the Hudds public will start to realise that they have a good team and start to turn up.

| Quote: Robbo "From what I could see most of the huddersfield fans where grouped together at the back of the north with wigan fans around them so I don't know what the problem is. Also very good of the club to let people who have paid 8 quid knowing they'd get seats in the east stand , into the north stand with people who have paid more than double for their tickets..'"
I disagree with the OP
I thought the stewards were excellent.
As our tickets did not arrive we had to go and pick them up so got there early ( then there was no queue so we got into the ground about 50 minutes early.
Went to our seats and the steward came and talked to us for about 15 minutes and could not have been friendlier.
A bit later on a large group of Gaints fans were sat together but had to sit in different seats as their seats had been taken by Wigan fans so the stewards told them where to sit..
Then 10 minutes into the game 2 Wigan fans turned up and wanted to sit in their seats which had the Giants fans in. The Giants fans all moved down and left two seats at the end of the row for the Wigan fans who refused those seats and demanded the stewards move all the Giants fans so they could sit in the middle of the row.
Two stewards had a chat and rather than upset all the fans and have dozens of people having to move seats in the middle of the game agreed to let the Giants fans into the North stand.
They dealt with it quickly, professionally and without any trouble.
Hats of to them for being so good and accommodating.
I have emailed Wigan to congratulate them for this.
I do think the problem could have been avoided though.
If fans knew that the group on vouchers were for allocated seats they might not have got them and they could have at least expected some Giants fans to buy them so they could put them together it would not have been difficult when people were giving their addresses to say to you want to sit in a Giants section of the East stand.
Anyway congratulations on Wigans PR and Marketing team for getting a great turn out to the game. Is that the biggest crowd of the SL season.

I did read your post and replied! It sounds like you are complaining to me. You emphasised the negative instead of recognising that the stewards were doing their best to help you. Why not concentrate on the team's performance and congratulate the Wigan marketing team for getting a 20,000 crowd in! It was great to see Hudds fans in good numbers for once. If it catches on with the rest of the Hudds public then maybe in future visits to the DW we can give you the whole of the North stand to yourselves!
