I said on another thread that our four first team props this time next year will probably be Fielden, Coley, Lima & Hock. A formidable line up!
First choice 2nd rowers Hoffman, Tomkins, Mossop & Hansen. Really big men!
Lockers at loose.

That at the moment looks like the best pack in the league.
BTW it's only my opinion but if that pack had played Wire last Friday Wigan would have won with some to spare.
We've only 12 months to wait to find out anyway!

Last Friday the Wire pack was bigger and more experienced than the Wigan forwards. They got stuck in and knocked us around the park.
The Wire pack won that match!
Fielden is a very good prop, he must stay for next year and hopefully the year after.

The last few posts have been spot on. Fielden would be a big miss if he left. Very underrated by a lot of people.

Fielden looked as though he shat himself on Friday... he looked like he was our only "big" forward out on the field. If he is around the right players and after the signing of Lima and Hoffman we will get the best out of him. He certainly looks like he wants to play for us... looks as though hes fighting for a new contract, could you imagine him fighting for his spot next year? He seems to get fired up when he's around a good strong pack. At Bradford they had a huge set of forwards, nothing really much to fear for them... they dominated SL. Look at the pack he has been around with us, the only threat we truly had was Hock and possibly Feka... who is only for around 10 mins icon_lol.gif At Bradford... good god. Peacock, Vangana and Anderson etc? At least they got your back covered if your on your ... on Friday we were relying too much on Stuart. I know Tuson, Tomkins, O'Loughlin and Mossop were there but three of them are still young and hardly our big guns.

I do hope he stays another year at least with his wages reduced, perhaps the expectations were too high and he was under alot of pressure when he first signed, under a huge salary and just around the time Mason sparked him. Next year we may see the world-class Fielden from all those years ago... being around Coley, Hock, Hoffman and Tomkins who will be even more threatening. Its a huge kick up the .

FFS icon_rolleyes.gif

he was targetted from the first minute with 3 and 4 in the tackle , and lets not forget the hight shots that went in either

he was our main prop and was targetted out of the game

a job was done on him big time

Quote: MadDogg "I am a big fan of Fielden and think he has been very good all year, bar the odd game.

However I don't think he helps himself by constantly rubbing the opposition up the wrong way, especially when trying to rub it in when an opponent makes a mistake. I think it makes him even more of a target and also makes him look a bit daft when he comes up with a few errors!

In my opinion he simply needs to focus on his own game because when he's on, he's a huge asset.'"

My sentiments exactly. If you are focussing on what the opposition are doing, seeking to mock, it seems to me you are not focussing on your own work. Quite foolish, really.

If you want to get one over on your opposition number, outplay them.

i must say i've never really been a fan of stu, but this season he has really come into his own and is playing much better. However, on Friday i must say he didn't play as well as he can do, his handling wasn't very good, all be it others dropped the ball too. Also i dont think he is quite powerful enough to compete againstbig packs like the warrington pack.

Fielden was obviously the senior wigan prop on the day and it was plain to see he was obviously part of a Wire game plan of being targeted, almost every time he had the ball he was hit very hard. He was targeted out of the game.

Make ya mind up.

Fielden was rubbish on Friday but he did sort of get hung out to dry. Prescott i thought did ok but its not enough either in a big game. Weve signed some big meat for next season to back Fielden up so I think we could see Stu in top form next season. Fielden, Coley, Lima, Hock, Hoffman is absolutley frightening and nobody will even try to bully them next season icon_lol.gif

Couldn't agree more - it may be payback time in 2011 for Morley and Carvell etc when they are facing those 5 forwards together with Micky Mac, Hanson, O'Loughlin, Joel, Mossop and Prescott/Tommy.

Can't wait to see our 6 pack plus 4 subs batter the Wire pack into submission!!
We won't need to throw any high shots/late challenges like Warrington were doing - just be hard and mean (but fair!) Remember Andy Platt et al? I could say Kelvin Skerrett, but he was a bit "Morleyesque"!
