icon_biggrin.gif We're ing ourselves laughing that a thread that was flagged up on Southstander as Pie fans having a major hissy fit, has stretched to 19 friggin' pages!

Now that is a bad case of paranoia.

Quote: Wigan/Leeds Andy "You need to read it again, I'm not basing it on one year. I'm obviously basing it on some indications for the future that don't look too promising - the age and effectiveness of key players coming to the end of their careers, the changing financial priorities, underwhelming coaching set-up, Jimmy Lowes etc.'"

Well, i know for a fact you are incorrect with regards to the financial priorities, the funding for the southstand regeneration is ring-fenced through a few different funding sources and grants outside of the clubs normal revenue streams.

Im not at all underwhelmed by Brian McDermotts appointment. It seems SL fans see only the underlings of Australian Head Coaches as worthwhile. Many people were underwhelmed with Tony Smiths appointment

As for the 'age and effectiveness of key players' Sinfield and Mcguire had great years last year, they are the two most influential players at Leeds and Mcguire was imo comfortably the best S-O in the league last year and had his best season for a long while, Cross has been brought in to cover for the very talented but injury prone Eastwood will take a lot of work off Peacock. 'Age and effectiveness' was the same issue thrown about in 2006 at the likes of Lauitiiti, Senior, Peacock et al, all came good again.

Quote: Jukesays "Oh and BTW

You just don't like Wigan! Which is fair enough.
I just wish some of you would be big enough to admit it!'"

Settle down princess. This may come as a wee bit of a surprise to you, but for the last 10 years Wigan RL has been a bit of a joke. Remember the 70 nil tonking in the summer of 2005? That's the level of amusement you provided at Headingley. As far as the modern game, since the turn of the century it's been Leeds, Saints and Bradford. You simply were there to make up the numbers, and were not successful enough to generate any ill feeling. In fact, more comment was made when you lobbed a bog brush onto the pitch!

You took everybody by surprise last season, and played some crackin' rugby, and may well be in for a golden spell yourselves. Until you do though, all this "we are so good, everyone hates us" is a tad embarassing, and will doubtless provide us with many pish taking opportunies next season. icon_biggrin.gif

Super League meetings summary

Wigan won 18 Leeds 16 with 3 Draws

SL play-offs: Wigan won 5 Leeds won 3

Wigan’s highest score: Wigan 68 v Leeds 14 … 1996

Leeds’s highest score: Leeds 70 v Wigan 0 … 2005

May not have been successful but still proved a handful for the mighty Leeds.

Well if Leeds don't spend any time, money, or other resources on the ground upgrade from their normal revenue streams, they'll be the first club in history to do so. Paying for the capital costs is one thing, it's all the other crapola that comes with these projects that will effect the day-to-day bottom line.

Good luck if you think Brian McDermott is the answer to your coaching position.

Peacock, Senior, Buderus, Lauititi will all be a year older and more prove to injury (as well as retiring sooner), add in the fact your best hooker went and a less than sparkling set of youngsters coming through to take up the slack, and I'd be worried if I was a Leeds fan.

Quote: Cronus "Wigan dominating the tackle and controlling the ruck is legal.

McGuire on Carmont wasn't.

Not upset in the slightest. In fact I couldn't care less. We had to listen to muppets who don't understand RL all last season as well. What counts is that the Rugby Gods made sure we were the best team in the league and won the big prize (and a few others). Criticise all you like... icon_thumb.gif

Like what? the loss of revenue from ticket sales is limited as the time chosen to rebuild will have minimal impact on Leeds season, there are additional revenue streams (as well as grants) that otherwise wouldnt be applicable than for the rebuild. Not to mention the company doing the rebuild being own by a certain Mr Caddick

Yeah, as I said, some RL fans only recognise the underlings of Australian coaches.

Are you falling for Rogues myth? Leeds have a great set of youngsters coming through, Surprisingly they have Props like Ambler, Pitts and Burgess, second rower in Clarkson, Stewart, Singleton, a Centre in Watkins, and a hooker in not only McShane but Liam Hood. Its almost like it was planned.

None of which would get into the Wigan team. Well, maybe Burgess.
