Having been the game, Myler and McGuire were awful first half, but the two Myler tries will keep him in the side despite another poor game.

Our problem however is in the pack. The Aussies will kill us.

I agree, but according to the "Sky Experts" last night we have the "Best Front Row" in the World and the "Best 2nd row in the World!"! icon_eek.gif

To be honest, he'd have been in the team for the Aussie game however badly he'd played.

Tony Smith's comments about Sam's 3 tries and 3 assists 'not meaning he'd had a good season' clearly indicates that he's in a different galaxy from the rest of us.

It would be interesting to see the Wires fans reaction if Smith dropped Myler after him scoring two tries.

Exactly. Myler is in, what Smith has to do is pick the best 16 he can around him and Sam must start at 6, Eastmond in at centre with Ellis in the other centre.

Regardless, the Aussies are going to destroy us.

my position before the match was Tomkins over Myler but although not setting the world alight was one of the better performers and justified selection. My position now is Myler and Tomkins over Danny M and dropping Shenton completely.
It won't matter though in the grand scheme of things because the strongest team we could ever possibly muster wouldn't be good enough against the Oz

tomkins needs to become more of a team player and thats why myler probably got the nod, havin said that i still reckon tomkins is a good year ahead of myler and a better comparison will be had after next season when myler has been behind a decent pack

At the end of the day, whoever plays next weekend, they'll be facing an awesome task.

Now the Mickey Mouse matches are over, we all need to get behind whoever is selected. It would be great to take an Aussie scalp, but good grief it's going to be a big ask.

How do you get that Tomkins is a year ahead of Myler ?

Myler was making a name for himself before anyone outside of wigan knew who Tomkins was

Nah, Eastmond hasn't shown any sign yet of being an organiser. He had plenty of opportunity to shine in that department as he had weeks covering for Longy while his jaw was healing. But there was no sign of him being able to boss the pack around the park. I think Eastmond's skill lies elsewhere so while I would definitely put him on the pitch, it would be at centre or FB. We definitely need him as he is electric and also his tendency to seek individual glory seems to have been eradicated, thus making him rather good at setting up tries. FB may be his best spot as he gets to travel across the park a lot from there.

Mate,if that is your honest appraisal of the first half (as opposed to defending Myler at all costs because he plays for your club) then I suggest you stop posting now. You're simply making a fool of yourself.

P.S. The quotes from Smith were his after match comments from the Wales game and an interview with the Times. The links are on this and other threads on this board. Can't be a*sed digging them out for you.

Smith's comments after the game about combinations taking time make it pretty clear in my mind he has no intention of bringing Sam in next week.

He is rather deluded sometimes.

After watching the game again, Myler did nothing other than two pretty well taken tries and that was it. He made some shocking errors. His positioning in defence causes chaos for everyone else in the team, and he was put in the team to organise according to Smith? Did anyone see him talking and setting up the play?

The game proved me right more and more from what I said before the game.
