It was initially mentioned a while back by WW69, LeBron, Steph Curry or whatever name he's going by, so there wasn't much weight to it. I think this time, it was simply a case of Zig saying he'd be a good pick up but I don't think there's a link as such. I had a look at his contract status and he is still showing as off contract at the end of 2023 but I read a report saying he has agreed a new 3 year deal at Parra. I'd love that type of second rower (big, athletic, great hands) to come in but finding one isn't easy.

| He’d be perfect for us, could be a makeshift half too, but yeah as previously mentioned, agreed a new deal and just had the best year of his career so far.

I heard we was in for him a couple of months ago but wasn’t aware we still are. Not sure another prop is needed

| Whitbread is a good solid player but he’s on good money and I don’t think he improves us. Would do a good job at a team with mid table aspirations.
Don’t think he adds much to a team hoping to be competing at the top of the table year in year out.

| If we do keep Mago it will almost be like having a new prop anyway .........
If he stays and continues to play at this level then I can't think of many like for like type players who would be an improvement. Unlikely we would be in the market for a prop then - 2nd row and probably back up or starting 6 depending on money we are willing to throw at the 6 position - and the compromise we then have to make to fit Field/French/6 /Miski in. Good as Miski has been - if we somehow did sign a superstar 6 then he's be the one to make way for french.

If it’s Mago or Whitbread it’s Mago every time for me. He offers something different.
Whitbread is solid doesn’t bring anything to the table that others don’t.

| Surely the arguments for moving French to the wing get slowly weaker and weaker, as Miski continues to show great form in both attack and defence, and French continues to go well at 6? It's not like we're going to land Cam Munster or Jarome Luai.

Correct. I think he is an excellent player.

Another good piece of news.
Next season our pack will still be incredibly young so to retain Cooper is a big plus for me.

| Right option and, funnily enough if it goes well, puts us in a strong position for this time next year.

Happy with this, shows club are happy with rehabilitation, shows he’s happy with the club. Looks to have taken a leadership role this year too, present at every game and seemed vocal in team talks. Was also the first on the pitch to console players after Semi final loss vs KR.

| Time will tell what Cooper will be capable of after such a bad injury at 34. On a personal level I'm glad that he's got the chance to end his time at the club (or in the sport?) on his terms. It would've been a horrible way to have to retire.

I think French has proven that he is still a potent try scorer from 6, and his assist record is the best in SL. His decision making and timing is getting better, although he is still prone to throwing a late or flat pass that gets intercepted. He'll tidy that up with experience though. I'd be more than happy for him to get the 6 shirt next year

Needs to take the line on more and stop throwing dummies then passing.
