| Looks like reality is starting to hit some of the Whinos at last and all they can do is lash out at the champion team.
- The production line of youngsters is drying up
- A squad where some of the key players aren't as effective as they once where, with some coming towards the end of their careers
- New ground improvements to be paid for and the money diverted away from the rugby operation to pay for it
- Brian McDermott being an example of taking the cheap option
- Jimmy Lowes

| Quote: lionarmour87 "since when were the 70s barren for Leeds ,the 70s were your most barren period ever and most of the 60s'"
When you say '"most of the 60s", I guess you mean the 60s apart from 1960 (League Champions), 1962 (Lancashire League winners), 1965 (Challenge Cup winners) 1966 (Lancashire Cup winners), and 1968 (Floodlit Cup winners).
It seems you're pretty good at common abuse, but don't have much of a handle on facts.

| Quote: pondmonster "2. As for the play the ball / holding down issue. Are there any stats on this. Phil Clarke did briefly touch on this during a sky game last season, but it sure would make interesting reading. This whole lying on thing started following the Hull game, our 5th win out of six coming after the defeat at Bradford the week before. Richard Agar made the comment after his team IMO were far, far, more guilty of lying on in that match and trying to keep the score down as we were very impressive. (Hull scored a couple of very dubious late tries that didn’t matter but made the final scoreline flatter them.) I genuinely don’t believe that we are any better or worse than any other team in the league and this is purely a media driven myth started by Agar with everyone else jumping on the bandwagon. I am sure you will let me know if you think I am watching through my cherry and white specs, but this is my opinion.'"
Any RL fan who complains about Wigan 'lying on' is an idiot and should be summarily executed.
Wigan do not 'lie on'. What they actually do is hold the man up using 2-3 men. Before the ref shouts 'held', they then force him to the floor (more often than not on his back) and peel off 1 at a time, with the first man off sprinting back to the defensive line.
They control the tackle and the ruck. All of this gains no more than a few seconds advantage - but it's enough to ensure your defensive line is back, set and ready to come in and dominate again.

And you have decided this on what can only be one season?
what leeds you to believe that the poor form from some of Leeds senior players last year (and ill admit there was some) wasnt a blip?
Id certainly say we werent as bad last year as in 2006, yet looked what happened after that?

Thanks God for that! 5mtr barge over tries are not our style.
As I said earlier Saintsfan posts for 18 months that Saints are boring under Potter and then comes on our Board and uses Saints as a Shining example of Entertaining Rugby and Wigan are Boring!
Seems to me that any time Wigan win "Some" fans think it's Boring!
Seems strange to me that the fans sat in the highest crowds in RL in what is being described by Big City Leeds fans as a Village/Hamlet etc seem to disagree?

Oh and BTW
That's his opinion, Not the "Opinion on Here".
FWIW, I couldn't give a Shiny rats backside whether every fan/official of every other club thinks Wigan are "Ruining" the game.
As I said in a post many years ago, Opposing fans Come up with reasons why they hate Wigan.
1st full time proffessional team
Maurice Lyndsay
Salary Cap (Spirit of Blah Blah Blah)
Etc,etc,etc
And Now it's Lyong on and slowing the PTB down
One day you'll realise it's got nothing to do with any of them, You just don't like Wigan! Which is fair enough.
I just wish some of you would be big enough to admit it!

Wigan dominating the tackle and controlling the ruck is legal.
McGuire on Carmont wasn't.
Not upset in the slightest. In fact I couldn't care less. We had to listen to muppets who don't understand RL all last season as well. What counts is that the Rugby Gods made sure we were the best team in the league and won the big prize (and a few others). Criticise all you like...

Sure is legal, hence Wigan giving away more penalties than anyone else last year. Oh, Hang on

The Rugby Gods see fit to test even their most worthy disciples by sending forth match officials of the most wicked and dubious intent.

You need to read it again, I'm not basing it on one year. I'm obviously basing it on some indications for the future that don't look too promising - the age and effectiveness of key players coming to the end of their careers, the changing financial priorities, underwhelming coaching set-up, Jimmy Lowes etc.
