| Quote: Tricky Dicky "Lets look at the real facts. We havent won a single big game this year and there have been plenty.
World club Challenge
Nou Camp
Anfield V Wire
Wire away in the challenge cup
2 Semi finals to reach old trafford
4 derby games v saints one of which was to reach old Trafford.
All the above were one off must win games in the category of big matches.
Regardless of finishing 2nd in the league we failed every big test in 2019.
2020 is a re boot for the squad.'"

Great post. I still don’t get those defending Lam. It’s black and white.

| Quote: The_Enforcer "What the hell do you know? You're so busy happy clapping for Lenagan that you dont know what the hell is going on. You told everybody that the club had done everything right when the Edwards saga was unfolding yet it turned out they had done everything wrong. Yes, announcing a new coach and parading them in front of the cameras without a signature is one of the biggest shambles ive ever seen from the club and Lenagan must take the blame for that.
As for Williams, this page has been littered with people attacking him for the past few years and i have refrained and even defended him but last night showed me that they were right. Where the hell was he? He was so anonymous that O'loughlin, a 36 year old ended up taking over as play maker.'"
The club made one error re Edwards and that was the wording of the press release. The deal was done and nailed on Edwards was due to be our next coach. He even interviewed people for jobs at the club. Regardless of what was made public, Edwards was 100% at fault and shat on the club. The press release should have said he’d agreed to be coach rather than had signed for the club. Error made.
If you can tell me a bigger attacking threat at Wigan since Williams came through I’m all ears. If not, get your red bee jersey on and enjoy the GF.

| Quote: 100% Warrior "George had a bad game but let’s be frank here; he’s two plays in front of everyone else, he sees things others don’t and can’t and tries to put players in gaps and spaces they’re not capable or quick enough to hit.
In the NRL that all changes. I personally think he’ll be an absolute star over there if he plays to his potential.'"
I agree entirely. One of the best to come out of our academy.
It was him v Hampshire. Both were probably level on ability at the time. Hampshire possibly slightly ahead. Yet it was the attitude of George that has seen him rise to sign for an NRL club and Hampshire has been released by Wakefield.

| I'm sorry but I've only been watching Wigan since the late 1950's.
Williams is at best 'bog standard'. We have had loads much better in that time.
Must be youngsters who state otherwise ?

I usually respect your posts, but if you genuinely believe this to be true then I must question your judgement.
Classifying George in these terms is on a par with still trying to claim that Lockers is a match-winner.
The best you can say for George, in my view, is that he's a talented player who performs in flashes. Granted, he's been playing behind a faltering pack, but while he's occasionally done eye-catching things this season, much of the time - like last night, for example - he's been off doing his own thing, leaving the 3/4s standing bemused and the game plan in tatters. Or he's been invisible. Now, when you consider how well paid he is as a marquee player, that becomes a real problem.
This thread is called The Blunt Truth, and we need to be honest about these things. We know good players at Wigan, as we've seen lots of them. And George has not justified his salary or his reputation. The same, sadly, is true of Lockers, who has been off the pace these last two games in the most embarrassing way imaginable.
Neither's Wigan career ended the way it should have done. George because he's too hit and miss (which won't work in the NRL), and Lockers because he's played on for too long.

| Blimey.
I love the self assurance of how some posters must be right because they've been watching Wigan since 1950 or because they are a Wigan fan they just know what a good player looks like. The arrogance is beautiful. To be old and wise you first have to be young and stupid. Perhaps some never graduated?

| Nothing has happened recently that we did not expect. Last season the hierarchy were saying that we were undersized. We did not replace some of the best players in the country like for like and then lost a couple of likely starters for other reasons. We have regularly been over playing and depending on first year professionals which is rarely a good sign. Our main strike players have included Isa who is the kind of utility player that every club needs but will never really trouble defences with his bulk.
Now what we need to do is to plan for the future. Our two best second rows play on the same side and one of them does not seem to want to play any more. Our captain and scrum half and one prop should be planning for life after playing. There are rumours about the intentions of our incoming marquee half and we have a player who wants to play full back who has been tried in every other position. Add to that we will be trying to decide who to play in the centre from a converted winger, a converted fullback and a utility player. Finally we have several players who are not good enough and who may not get much game time next year but who will be on a good wage and who might enjoy living in Toronto.

| Williams is for me a bit of an enigma yes when his form comes he can be a joy to watch, for some people clearly that happens every game, they’re entitled to their opinion and I’ll not argue that with them.
I think Williams has reached a wall at Wigan and has been standing still for the last couple of years in particular,he needs to move on,personally I think he will do well over there and become the player that some see all the time but most only see in flashes

The worst thing about the whole saga is from the minute he became marquee and signed that big contract he did everything he could to leave. It has to be unsettling on everyone else regardless of what the public face of it all from his teammates is. Good riddance to him.

| Here's the blunt truth - Williams had more outstanding games for Wigan before his "Marquee" wage than he did after.

20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

What rumours are there with Hastings?

From what I believe the NRL clause in his contract allows him to leave after 2020 season if desired. Therefore he is contracted to us for at least the first twelve months.
