Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

| Don't worry!
"The players are hurting"
"We'll learn our lesson from this and come back stronger"
"Our middles weren't right and we'll fix that"
"The lads are in for a tough week in training"
Everything will be just fine

That sounds strangely familiar

| From an outsiders perspective, I don't understand why Tomkins escapes flak for these performances. He is the highest paid player in the league (reportedly by some distance), yet seemingly can't break down a defence. He doesn't look like breaking the line unless the defence completely switch off, and his passing game is very overrated, he knows when to release the ball but can't pull out a long cut out pass or spot when a flat short ball would put someone through a gap.
Also if Williams wants to become your main half, he has to improve his play outside the opposition 20.

| The absolute worst performance of what has been overall a shocking season. I said before the CC semi I thought the dodgy performances would catch up with us and we'd end up with a very disappointing last couple of months. Unfortunately that seems to be exactly how it's panning out.

It has never been a case of five Tomkins the ball and he'll do something. Tomkins' ability was based on the timing and angles of his run. To do that others have to create the space. I watched bits of the game back this morning. When we shift the ball, firstly it is slow out of dummy half, then there are feeble efforts at dummy runs which don't attract any attention of the defence as it is obvious they are not getting the ball. Once the ball arrives to Tomkins all he can do is shift it on. He still has the ability the team need to play to his strengths.
Williams still has a lot to learn, I wonder if he will be another on the long list of English halves who end up at hooker.

| Not to go for the two points at the end was criminal
It would have at least salvaged something from what was one of the most inept Wigan performances of recent times.
It also demonstrated an immense lack of respect for the opposition.
How could the coach not understand that if we couldn't score against 11 men with the flat, slow inept tactics that were being applied all game, then there was little, nay, no, chance of doing so with panic rugby at the end.
"Delusional" sums it up for me.

| The two points at the end did nothing more than guarantee a top 4 finish in a draw. Going for the win would have given a top 2 finish a chance, so I don't think it was a waste to go for the win.
I thought Smith was missed last night, he does a lot of organising during a game.

I was quite surprised at 13 v 11 there was no attempt to shift it and get gelling the ball early in order to try leg it against his oppo.

13 v 11 was only for 2 mins. We got over the line in that time. A fantastic effort from the Widnes defender knocked the ball out of Sutton's arm.

But 13 v 12 for 18 minutes. Countless penalties. Many Widnes dropped balls. What more did the inept attack need?

Given the points difference and games left, the one point from a draw would have been as useful as a win last night, especially in terms of winning the hub cap. Now we are esentially 3 points behind Hull because of their vastly superior points difference.

Wouldn't argue but I was replying to a post about 13 v 11

A draw would have made a massive difference to Wigan's ambitions to finish top. A draw followed by wins in the last three games would have guaranteed top spot. Now they have to hope results go their way.

Ridiculous decision not to secure a play off spot. Let's see how Catalans go on against Wire.
