| Quote: WARRIORCRAIG "Mad that in the last 4 seasons the 2 teams have won the CC 2 times each, Wigan have 2 LLS, Wire have 1 and Wigan have a GF win, with Wire having a GF appearance, yet they haven't met in a final yet.
It's the final that should have been for the last 4 years, and what a great way for players like Sam Tomkins, Pat Richards, Lee Mossop, Adrian Morley, Garreth Carvell and Brett Hodgson (if he plays) to finish their careers at their respective club.
I can't wait!'"
Couldn't have put it better myself! Those are the reasons I'm looking forward to the final, I'm just glad that it finally happened before all that quality left the 2 best teams of the last few years.
But seriously, I grew up in Warrington, lived there most of my life and have been around Warrington fans so much more than St Helens fans.
This game is nothing compared to 2010.

| They seem to be the biggest matches for Wigan now when we play Warrington, the Saints games have a superb derby feeling but the Wire games edge it! IMO of course.
Not being from Wigan i guess i can say that, i get more will for us to win for a wire game than a saints game.
Can't wait for saturday so much, trying to tell myself we have nothing to lose so's to take the nerves away, and i can see Wire fans looking forward to it massively with the possibility of their first title since Jesus's dad was a nipper.
MASSIVELY EXCITED

| I look forward to Wire v Wigan more because it has more than local rivalry.
It has a great atmosphere and usually very high quality rugby, seriously how long ago was there a bad game, the only one I could really think of for Wigan fans is the one at the HJ 39-12 but I think (might be wrong) that was your next game after Wembley.
It's the high quality that is the main draw for me, both our defences are top draw and our attacking philosophy although very different in approach is very fruitful and good for the fans and the neutral.
Wigan have an almost NFL playbook style of attack that twists and turns the opposition inside out, Wire play an almost chess like attack, watch the opponents watch their moves and workout and cater their attack accordingly, completely off the cuff but intelligently so.
I'm struggling to sleep I'm that excited.

| Much bigger for Warrington than Wigan. Until they break the run going back almost 60 years this will always be so. Winning the cup this time has also taken the pressure off us.

| I think had this question been asked a few years ago it would have a been an easy "just another final" type answer. I mean if we take the 8 in a row CC run there was really only two that stood out: 27-0 and 13-8. I went to 7/8 and they're the only scores I can remember.
BUT games against Wire have taken on a new meaning if late. To me they've always been (as Alex Ferguson once said of City) noisy neighbours, but like Man City they've actually developed some substance to their noise of late; that whether you're prepared to admit it in public or not means there is a bit of bite to the game.
No wire fan on the planet will ever convince me that beating Wigan on Saturday will illicit the same feeling as beating Hull KR U19s to win it. Jesus they'd absolutely lap it up.
Having said that, Wigan's indifference to Wire is borne out of them never having won the league. God forbid they win on Saturday the only bit of "pat them on the head style patronising smugness" we have left over them will be gone.
And to top it all off I've lived in Warrington for the last five years, so that probably tilts my bias.

| 1998 was bigger, Wigan were expected to win the first grand final and we had lost against Sheffield at Wembley???? But I feel like I did when we played Stains in 2010, like we are underdogs and its a bonus just to get to the final.

| A lot bigger for them looking at the giddiness on their board. Where are you sitting? Where are you drinking? What you wearing? Where are you eating? What colour boxers are you wearing? Where you parking? What time you getting in the ground? I guess their still relatively new to this being in finals lark!
Personally it's the final I've been dreading since they've been one of the top teams. A lot of my mates are Wire fans and if they won their first SL against us I'd never hear the end of it. They've had the better of us for years now as well and seem to be the team who know how to beat us. Would probably be my best day supporting Wigan if we beat them and the worst if we don't.

| The game is nowhere near as big as 2010 for me, beating saints In a grand final for our first trophy in 8 years and their 5th grand final loss in a row? Doesn't get much better than that.

Wigan v Saints is the BIG game.
This one on Saturday is a big game because it's a final, but even if we lose we'll have had a good season (Challenge Cup and U19 Champions) For Wire it's a massive game, if they lose they'll come away from the season with nothing. They will be desperate for the win.'"
Completely disagree Brian. Wigan v saints excitement has gone for me.
Wire home and away are the two best games and two best atmospheres of the year. It feels like more of
a rivalry. Wigan v saints has gone far too nice

I think that's because a lot of the Saints muppets - the likes of Saddened, Chairmaker, Rommel, Mugwump etc - who couldn't keep away from this board when they were great and we were crap, have now completely retreated into the bunker, leaving only the friendly knowledgeable fans, who are more interested in the game than in scoring cheap points. It becomes difficult to dislike a club when you're only exposed to the good guys.
If Saints get back up there, the usual suspects will rediscover their courage and reappear on here, and normal service will be resumed.

Agreed
Saints/Wigan might be the 'Derby', but Saints are a few notches below Wigan and Wire and have been for some time now.
Wigan/Wire is THE final. The best two teams in the league. Cannot bloody wait!

Warrington IMO are just noisy neighbours, the Man City of rugby league if you like. St Helens on the other hand have had a taste of what we've had and if I had the choice of which of the 2 I'd rather stick one over on it would be Saints every time. This is nowhere near as big as what the 2010 GF was, whilst Warrington games are always tasty affairs, the Saints games are always remembered far more no matter what kind of game it is, which one to you meant more or remember more? Warrington away in 2010 which was our first away win at the new Wire ground or Saints 2003 when we beat them with all the kids at Wigan? I know which one for me,and who I'd love to beat every time if we played the 2 regardless of where they are currently.

| I think its the same importance as 2010. Both games the biggest game of the year for both clubs involved and whoever wins will be champions just as was the case in 2010.
In all honesty I am not confident if Warrington actually manage to turn up and play. They have some really big guys who always seem to strangle our attack and pin us in our own half. We will need to play a near perfect game and take every half chance we get to stand any chance of beating them which we have not managed for quite some time.

| Wigan v saints will always be the big game, just because it's saints. Saying that though Saturday is massive. Does any one really want to listen to the dire fans crowing on about being champions all next year, and the other half is a dire fan so if we lose I'm movin out.
