| I have nothing but admiration for SOL who is a great player.
If he does play on Saturday I will be screaming for our players to run directly at him every time we take the ball up.
As I have already said Sean is a great player & I very much hope he does play, but from what I have heard about his injury I don't think he will.

| Quote: sergeant pepper "How many times has a great player come off the injury table to play a blinder in a big game?
The Radlinksi cup final springs to mind.
JJB aside, and regardless of how good they are, i don't think they have Lockers heart to just get on with it and play through it.
A 90% fit Lockers is still as good as 100% fit Jack Hughes and will not let anyone down.'"
What you are saying is tantamount to what happens when they whip a racehorse up to the finish line, the only interest is winning . If the horse drops dead over the line, so be it.
Sorry to be so brutal, but an Achilles injury can easily turn into a complete snapped Achilles which can mean end of career .

| Last week I was all for a not 100% fit lockers playing but I'm slowly changing my mind, the pack looked so good against Leeds and I think if we play with that intensity again we can match Wire without lockers,I say only play him if he can do the full 80,we need 17 fit players on Saturday, plus we need him for the World Cup.

| I'd love to have Lockers out there, he's our most important player IMO, but if there's a serious risk that he'll worsen his injury, he shouldn't play. His welfare needs to come first, and I don't want us down to 16 early in the game. Flower's in great form at loose at least. Any news on Tuson?

| We can win without him. It will be tough, but do-able. We will need everyone to play well. We will need another great game from Matty Smith, some magic from Sam and most importantly our pack to win the battle with Wire's. Lockers being out means we've lost the best forward in the comp but Farrell, Hansen, Mossop and McIlorum are at least as good as their Wolfs counterparts. Taylor will be very important too, this lad has the potential to be a special player.
If we do win without Lockers it will be a great achievement.

It would also mean our three most decorated players would be McIlorum, Hansen and Farrell, all with 2 SLs and 2 CCs. Not bad considering they can't have more than 10 international caps between them

7914_1630875396.png I'm 49, I've had a brain haemorrhage and a triple bypass and I could still go out and play a reasonable game of rugby union. But I wouldn't last 30 seconds in rugby league.

| silly question but do you only get a medal if you are in the 17 or is it like football that if you have played so many matches through out the year but dont play the final one you will still get one

A medal is worthless if you haven't played, ask the players who come on the pitch in their suits to join the lap of honour.
Of course whether he plays or not Lockers has played a massive part in any success achieved by the team.
I find it interesting that three weeks ago people were posting saying that without him we can't possibly win, now the consensus seems to be we can do without him.
IMHO We can afford to put Lockers on the bench. The second rowers can do the full 80 and so can MMc. Bringing him on will give the players a big lift if we are losing. If we are winning, keep him until the second half. Having 4 replacements allows us that luxury.

| Not worth the risk, with all the experience we've lost over the last couple of seasons losing O'Loughlin for a big chunk of next season could be a step too far.

| i would play him just not in starting 13, let him have logan tomkins spot and see if McIlorum can do the full 80 if not bring lockers on. Its hardly a gamble as logan is still not good enough, when he came on against leeds we lost the forward battle, he tries hard just not good enough yet but he's still a baby really.

Here's the latest
www.wigantoday.net/sport/wigan-w ... -1-6099169
"But before then, and more importantly, he may learn whether he has a chance of playing in Saturday’s Grand Final against Warrington.
The inspirational skipper will have a protective boot – which he has been wearing for the past four weeks - removed and an Achilles injury scanned.
“I’ll hopefully find out then, whether I can play or not,” he said.
“It’s not that I’m keeping my cards close to my chest, I genuinely won’t have an idea until I see the specialist, and he’s had another look at it."

33718_1325770967.jpg Games as big as Grand Finals define individuals and clubs. Remember, we only rent these journeys. In my time I had Pat Richard's shirt. Ellery Hanley had Sean O'Loughlin's jersey. Sam Tomkins is wearing Radders' number one jersey. Andy Coley is wearing Shaun Wayne's jersey. You have to make a mark in these shirts before you hand it down to someone else. Hand it back. So be aware for 80 minutes that you are not only playing, but you are also writing history and creating legacy. How many people actually write history - not many? A big stage demands big players…..INSPIRE YOUR TEAM MATES.

| He very nearly played last week in the semi, he didn't have the protective boot on in the dressing room before the match. He must be very close for some involvement in the final.

Had it on after the game though. Apparantley Tony Smith knows more than lockers or the doctors

He had it on when he was in the South Stand bar prior to the game.
