What a dreadful thing!
Taste is the enemy of creativeness.

The Communist Cap - dragging down success and aspiration to the levels of those who cba.: |

| Quote: MattyB "Would love for us to obtain a high standard of sponsorship such as 'Next' or 'M&S'.
Bearing in mind that Wigan RL name remains the pinnacle of UK rugby league then surely we should be seen as an attractive option whilst being good value for money (compared to football)...etc!'"
I agree.
A big name could sponsor the bigggest name in UK RL for a very very reasonable price when compared to Football.
This is what the management should be aiming for.

Why would they sponsor the also-rans of one of the lesser supported sports in the UK????
If, and IF???, the were to go into RL then Warrington or Leeds would be the preferred option surely?

I do think if England go well we could draw in a big name sponsor. Would make a change from the regional or small companies everyone has atm. Would be nice though if we have to not have a shirt sponsor if the club allowed Joining Jack and Wigan and Leigh Hospice for home and away.
No gurantees you can get a sponsor but lets not do a RFL special and get Stobart for nothing.

Leeds you could argue but Warrington?
Wigan, also rans???? Coming from a fan of a team that 'as yet' cannot produce a team photo declaring themselves as champions in colour.

Heard on the grapevine that Winalot pulled out of a sponsorship deal with Warrington .... they didn't feel your success over the last 30/40 years tied in with their product name

But you domination ends this season with Briers, Morley, Carvell etc all going to go or retire. Leeds will continue though they have a decent youth system.

We shall see about that. I'm sure Mr Moran will be able to fill the void with some highly paid quality RL stock from the southern hemisphere.

The new NRL salary cap will ensure he does not. From what the RLMOLE posted around 10 days ago on his twitter account your NRL dealings are done for the season. You can no longer just go to the NRL and pick a decent player. You will have to pay silly money now and that will affect what you can pay in other areas of the team. But given that there is a rumor re Myler trying to get his agent to see if he can get a NRL move you might need a 6 and 7 soon.
That is why Wigan went for Green and Smith last season. People laughed at it but in around a year or 2 that will look a very good move as SL and especially British No6 and 7 are very poor generally. With Chase looking available it will take a massive fee now to get him with the good Dr wanting him. And Salford do not have that many high earners they would be able to meet his wage demands.
NRL players in SL will drop now given the amount they can earn in the NRL and more and more SL will go to the NRL. Thats why teams now need a youth system that can bring 2-4 players through every 2 years or so. And atm only Wigan, Saints and Leeds have that.

Personally I would say that Ratchford and Myler who are both British, younger and on longer contracts than Smith and Green are the better option going forward.

Go on humour me and tell who the reigning Academy champions are.

Been the Academy Champions is one thing but how many have come through this season from that side. Whilst at Wigan from the last 2 seasons at least 4 or 5 now look like they will be first team players in the next year or 2. There is hardly any point in winning the Academy championship if none make the grade. Academy is their to develop talent something that Warrington have been poor at over the last few years. But now you will be really tested as you can not just go and get anyone from the NRL and the DR at Salford is flashing the cash and IL is not shy in doing that either.
Myler might not be at Wire in the next year or 2 as for Ratchford he is no Briers. And he will be just as big a lose for you than Sam will be for use.
As for contracts length of out havles i can see Smith been around for a while but Green will go to the NRL eventually. But Ryan Hampshire by then should be ready. And he really looks like the next big thing in our game.
