Flannery didn't have much trouble playing NRL (and SOO) in his time in the NRL though, whereas Flanagan has been playing reserve grade this year (I know that could be down to competition, coach's favourites etc).

Looking forward to seeing how he goes.

Saints did well with our rejects...Long, Gilmour and Cunningham. Not forgetting wide to West.
Although Bibey and Jones weren't considered a success.

Great prospect, thats about it. He looked very good when he played for us and runs some good lines but hes very much in a Dallas Johnson mould rather than a Gareth Hock one if I can say that.

He will certainly do a job and I can see him becoming a mainstay in Saints pack. Gutted hes not coming back, but with Hock, Farrell, Hansen, J Tomkins and then the likes of Tuson etc available we didnt really need him.

Last seen on the NRL Footy Show, having Beau Ryan (DJ Yellow) squirting ketchup in his face.
Young lad who's agent (Big Frank) talked him into going to Oz too early.

Wasnt it more something like his gf was going travelling and he wanted to go with her so he asked Endacott to find him an NRL club?

I rated him in the few games he played at the end of 2009, and he made 20-odd appearances last season for the Tigers and didnt disgrace himself. Fair play to him for giving it a go. Must say though would have preferred he was going Widnes rather than the old enemy!

Think he will go very well, very clever player and will add considerable strike in the back row. Very clever player indeed.

Based on his form from the back end of 2009, I'd have said yes, but not seen enough of him since his move to Wests to judge on current form.

If you dig out some old posts from when his leaving was announced, there were a lot of us disappointed to see him go.

A lot of people liken Flannery to Phil Bailey so with me watching him week in week out whilst at Wigan I'd compare Flanagan against Bailey. Doing that I believe Flanagan was/is the better player. He can do everything Bailey could but he'll bring a better range of attacking skills to the table. He can graft like a Bailey/Flannery put also produce a little bit of skill to unlock a defence. I remember him coming up with a couple of sublime flick passes in the semi at Widnes against Warrington and just generally looking like if let of the leash he could make things happen in his short time in our first team.

Good business by Saints IMO.

A shrewd signing for Saints. Works like a machine and has a great pair of hands. A very talented, English player and he could turn out to be a top signing for Saints.

Some really good feedback on here - he's on the bench for Wests at the weekend so I'll give it a look.

It'll be a shame disliking him when he takes the field against us really, was always pretty impressed by him.
