Quote: hula89 "A mate from Uni went to school with the Tomkins lads. When she finishes with saying how arrogant etc he is (ive just asked her what he was like etc) she says he is indeed from Chorley and as far as she is aware they actually support Wigan as a result of them giving their sons a shot however they may have supported Wire at some stage she says they weren't exactly "friends" haha.

Tbh he may be a great player but he sounds like a right coxk hahaha'"

He's a young, ridiculously talented half back, he's bound to be cocky. Even the cr@p ones are cocky (see Kevin Brown for further details).

You don't know much if you think Brown's a poor player. Hudds most important player for me. They fell apart when they lost him at the end of the season.

Brown is finally getting his career upto a level it should have reached long ago and i'm happy for him. He had a rough time off some of the fans at Wigan and the pressure really seemed to get to him.

The guy never made any secret of the fact he was a Wigan fan and it was his dream to pull on the Wigan shirt but for some reason he got little patience off an element of our support. I think alot of people saw him as being too cocky and just took a dislike to him.

I saw it as the opposite TBH.

I thought that Brown started to believe his own hype, after Stevo went and bought him that bl00dy watch.

He seemed to switch off and assume that things would just happen for him.

That's why I think the fans lost patience with him.

Expectation was too high on him imo. The pressure grew and especially when more experienced guys starting moving on. He got shifted between centre and Stand off and just seemed to lose confidence.

A section of the fans got on his back after every mistake and his Wigan career fell to pieces.

He was the scapegoat of that era.

He was also playing in a poor side with no confidence and was under a coach that was ruining the young lads in training when they made a mistake.

The club had to bring a psychologist in to try and get their confidence levels back up.

It didn't help that the 14 year old morons in the South Stand voted him man of the match every week either.

sam coached us at st pats last season and although he was confident, cocky is a ridiculous word as he is a really good lad and has a laugh but is very serious when he needs to be.

I have said this on many occasions, of all the players we have let go, losing Brown was the biggest mistake, but it was understandable at the time.

His confidence was shot to pieces and the boo boys were on his back (sound familiar doesn't it?)
We really couldn't wait for him to mature, so he had to go.

I suspect he would have been handled completely differently under Noble.

Don't forget that comment was based on a girl who didn't seem to like him very much it would be completely unfair to the lad to think he actually was. After this topic I have spoken to her today about it and apparently it was all because his brother was playing first team not his own talents or progression. He never mentioned that he may be playing first team. I just dont think she likes him haha. Sounds like actually he may be modest after hearing that so lets hope he doesnt get cocky. Then again some of the best players are cocky...
