Anybody who voted for Brexit. Mainly over 70's who shouldn't have had a vote (that includes me). It should have been left to the people who it will affect most.

And what qualifications do you have to endorse that view?
In what way has it put race relations back?

Maybe it's just highlighted how much further we needed to go and hadnt realised it.
Because make no doubt about it, over the last 3/4 years (and yes you can draw your parallels from those timelines if you wish) the people that still had a long way to go to understand why it's important have suddenly been emboldened, found a voice, and they're using it to push back.
"I'm sick of being politically correct"
"I'm not racist but"
"They (Those pesky minorities) just wont shut up and keep banging on about stuff, theyve never had it so good!"
This bloody countries fone to the dogs because of those bloody foreigners.
How does that help me? How does it make my life better? Whys noone listening to my worries and concerns

Well in response to the last one, IMO theyve backed the wrong horse.
"Get Brexit done" was never going to provide the answers the "Average working man" was looking for.
Stop as many Dhingys as you like, put up walls to your hearts content, blame the immigrants, the EU for all your worries and concerns and fears. It won't help them

Unfortunately once this Utopia has been achieved, well still be in the same position we are now, fighting injustices and systemic problems including class/education and poverty divides, and the very people who they backed to solve their problems are the ones who want to maintain the status quo and arent interested in solving the Real reasons for those feelings.

It certainly is a perspective, and I do think there are many interesting points
As a non religious person and someone who doesn't look at white privilege as being anything that someone should feel guilty about (it should be a standard that all people should be given) I dont see it as being the only answer
Maybe for some people it is the "New Religion", but to argue that it applies to all people who believe in a cause is a little simplistic

As ever they are looking to distract by pretending they can't get their heads around the BLM movement not being about what is written on a website. To concede anything would evidently be some sort of insult to the identity they have built for themselves.

And, in either a marvellous piece of projection or a breathtaking lack of awareness, they actually demand that *others* think about seeing things from other people's viewpoints. Before rounding it off with, "of course I'm against racism, I just for reasons I've made up can't support [ithis[/i anti-racism movement".'"

I’ve only ever voted Labour and you couldn’t have paid me enough money to vote for Corbyn and McDonald.
Maybe you are suggesting people should have voted for the Brexit party rather than Tory?

For me personally I don’t have a party. Labour become Momentum and Boris I think lacking in any skills of a technocrat required of a senior politician
Everything now is political to the point where debate is virtually dead. No compromise, no thought of being wrong ever about anything and total disrespect
for any other views.

Anytime we deal with other perspectives we simplify and whenever we post something we also simplify. The important thing, as I see it, is that you have read the article and evaluated it through the lens of your own personal knowledge and understanding which may be much more valid than mine.
I posted this from Spiked Magazine even though they have probably a magority of content that I disagree with because the present combatants seem incapable of nuanced thinking. We seem to scream fascist at anyone who holds any different views to us and which is deeply incompatable with our political system where parties need a wide base, otherwise we should have a proportional representation system. Just before the last election two political parties deselected candidates because they held what in my day would have been considered worthwhile and middle of the road socio-religious beliefs.
I was brought up in the day when to pass exams you had to be able to summarize at least two sides to an argument and to make a value judgement based upon your own views. We have moved on from that to a binary response. In Rugby Union I believe that one player of colour (please do not crucify me if I have used the wrong term) decided to stand because of footage of white BLM protesters attacking a largely black church and burning bibles. I can understand why he did not kneel and the valid reasons behind it. Sadly the idea that somebody else may have a valid viewpoint all too often goes out of the window.

I think the "Americanisation" of British politics has been far from a good thing

In the last 10/15 years the steer towards "Say anythinh to get elected, and then ignore/deny everything" has ramped up significantly

Both sides have taken a more popular and polar position to attain the votes of those sides (and neither can distinguish themselves in any great way, however I have my feelings that one side has been more aggressive/divisive in my opinion.

Yes, I am that Boring.

But turn that paragraph on yourself and look in that mirror.

Fake news!
3 line slogans
Why dont you try to listen to the people that feel oppressed/hard done to
Facebook's (And Twitter's) Armchair experts, who listen to all the other armchair racists spreading their vile messages which are disguised racist agendas
Try Empathy

Ruddy uses an analogy earlier about "Whatabout the white girl, or the white man injured or killed by a black/asian"
"Wheres the marches for that, wheres the kneeling for that".

If anyone cant see the difference it's because they dont want to or their not interested in researching to understand the difference.

Its abhorrent, black people kill white people, white people kill black people, Asian people kill white people and vice versa, it's all terrible. The Facebook (insert derogatory name) use Lee Rigby's name as a reason Not to support equal rights, there is no need to March because his killers were brought to justice by the people who are meant to do that.

The reason there is a Black lives matter movement etc is because the very people who are supposed to be upholding the law, the people who are supposed to determine justice, the people who are supposed to hire people fairly etc. Arent doing it to the EQUAL standards they are supposed to be.

Ask Steven Lawrence's parents, and yes things are getting better, but research and studies done by then police themselves in the last year accepts that there is "Still work to do".

Your retort that there are already laws, yes there are, and that's progress that was made in the 50s/60s/70s/80s etc which is fine.
But just as there are laws about speeding, some people dont abide by them even though they are there.
Some officers do target minorities, some bosses still dont employ women, minorities and disabled people fairly and equally. And those people who are disadvantaged are prepared to stand up for their rights to be treated equally, Good on um.

And I am in no way equating the UKs overall situation to the USA, wheebitbis far worse IMO.
But Raheem Sterling didnt speak out after geroge floyd, he felt the need to speak out before.
Others have done so in the not too recent past.

Should they all just sit right and hope it goes away, because your response that they are "Putting race relations back 30 years" seems to blame the victims for their own situation?

I just spent 20 mins writing a great reply, phone went off and lost it.
