The sad fact is that many games will no longer be decided by skill. Something needs to change fast or the majority of rugby fans will become disillusioned.

Two things professional sport needs, players and spectators and the governing body is currently alienating both groups, as Nu Brown says above it really is line in the sand time

Jon Wilkin raised a good point yesterday, why don't they do what RU do, sin bin the player and it gives 10 minutes to review the decision, if it is bad, the card gets changed, and the player cant return. it takes the crowd out of the equation, and allows refs to take time to decide if its a red or not.

The problem is, that by the letters of the law that red card last night was technically the correct decision so the outcome would have been the same in that instance.

If the players are all for the rules and really worried about head damage , why aren't they wearing skull caps ? Lomax seems worried enough to wear one due to previous injuries , but the other 99% are too stupid for their own good ?

This will kill the game , for now I am done watching .

The line you always hear with scrum caps though is that they do nothing to protect the brain, they’ll just stop things like cuts and bruises.

Alcohol also damages the brain and most players drink it , if you look at the madness over the last 4 years , this is just more of the same .

Easy , you give the on field try , show a couple of inconclusive angles , award the try and then try and off most fans by showing the angle which showed he wasn’t over the line . Amazing how the commentators didn’t mention this…

Back on the topic of head high tackles tonight proved you can have a tough, exciting & attritional game of rugby league without head high tackles if players concentrate and get heir technique right.

If the game can continue to thrive in Australia (and it is doing), I see no reason why it can't thrive here too.

Disagree. The statement acknowledges that the wording of the rule about head to head contact was incorrect. They’ve called a meeting to clarify and change it to initial head to head contact and allow discretion when it comes to accidental secondary contact.

They could have buried their heads in the sand and pretended the rule was correct. On this occasion I’d applaud how they’ve handled it.

I agree. They just need to admit they got the Wardle one wrong now and award the result to Penrith retrospectively....

It’s probably a harsh comment but surely you have it right come the start of the season? Anyway, they’ve at least acted now and It’s at least hopefully a sign that they’re prepared to listen to people’s concerns.
