LT looked very shaky in the U19s under the high ball and I was surprised when SW publicly backed him before the season started. He has clearly worked hard because he has surprised a lot of us with his displays so far this season. His positioning is sound as is his tackling. He has good pace but doesn't yet offer much in the attacking line. And his catching has improved no end. All in all he's done pretty well so far and justified the coaches faith in him.
I suppose if I'm deluded then Shaun Wane must be too? I'll take his judgement over yours any day.'"
Not convinced I'm afraid so let's agree to disagree.
Jesus of Nazareth made mistakes in his short 33 years so I am quite sure that SW has and will make them along the line.
Then again don't we all

| Surely with the number of players missing it's time to ditch the two games at Easter. Tomorrow should be one of the games of the season but due to fatigue and injuries I suspect intensity levels will be right down.
Word is Gelling gone for three months and Sam T another 2 months out injured.

Have we got enough injuries to call it a Leeds/Saints style injury crisis yet? And will sky mention that we're missing Sam Tomkins, Williams, Gelling, Bateman, McIlorum and Crosby
It's a real shame that what should have been a great game could be let down a little by one side being massively under strength.'"
Just so you know....We are under strength as well.
Ben Harrison, Toby King, James Laithwatie, Mitch Dodds, Ryan Bailey, Brad Dywer, Gary Wheeler and Ben Evans are all unavailable. But us Wires just get on with it.

So as I say 2 (Dwyer and Dodds) of your first choice 17 then compared to our 7 (with some of our 7 being your Gidleys, Sandows, Hills etc).
If we're going to list injuries to anybody in the club we've got Jake Shorrocks and the handy man from the training ground missing as well.

Prefacing your post with " So as I say" doesn't make you correct.
To recap, added to Dwyer and Dodds, Russell may or may not play, Westerman is apparently out and despite the tongue in cheek nature of naming Wheeler (I'd probably swap him for Jake Shorrocks) and to some extent Toby King who is a real prospect rather than an established player, a possible bench of Ratchford, G King, Cox and Philbin tells a story and they wouldn't probably all be part of our first choice 17.
I understand that you won't be convinced as our missing talent is worthless whilst yours are all world beaters but I think that you are being simplistic

It is simple- We have far more first choice players missing then Wire. If you don't want to agree to that for fear of it belittling any potential win then I can't do anything about that. FWIW I believe you'd beat us with a pretty much full strength team because your form is better then ours but with the team we have out it should be reasonably comfortable for you.
As an interesting comparison and I know squad numbers don't mean everything (although they're a very good indication as teams generally put their top 17 in order)but you're missing your squad numbers 15,16,17,19,21,23 and 24 compared to our 1,3,6,8,9,10 and 14.
Sums it up nicely for me. You're missing squad players, we're missing starting players.

| Wigan have far more influential players missing than us. Every big game is approached this way these days though where people look for an excuse for a loss or revel in a backs to the wall victory.
Its wire v wigan i dont care about the personnel.

I'm not belittling anything at all and think that this particular trait sits elsewhere.
I accepted that you were probably missing more influential personnel but asked you to reconsider your original statement that all we were missing from our first choice 17 was Dwyer and Dodds and gave you evidence of players that are missing, I even omitted Bailey and made light of including Wheeler on my list in the interests of fair play.
We don't know for sure whether Russell is playing and it seems that Westerman isn't so that's a possible 5 14 15 16 and 17 from the first 17 numbers on Tony's team sheet using your selection criteria. Although I'm very pleased with the form of our 32, we are certainly not missing just 2 players. I also suspect that the numbers, yes they are squad numbers given to Evans Laithwaite and Harrison might also include a reflection of their long term injury status as much as where they would sit in the pecking order should everyone be fit.
Sums it up nicely for me, if you don't want to agree that your earlier post was too simplistic, then I can't do anything about that
