| Quote Aboveusonlypie="Aboveusonlypie"Ok to answer your question. Shaun Wane can see out his contract provided we are COMPETING for honours. Winning sometimes takes luck (eg Saints last year) and you can't legislate for that. I think that he is a good coach who has a good record of success and adds a lot to the club in other ways such as our youth system that he is partly responsible for. I'm happy competing for honours.
If we had a couple of seasons like Wire have had then I'd be looking for a new coach. But losing finals isn't a sackable offence. I respect your opinion SP but I think you have dug a hole for yourself here. Get behind Waney support the team and enjoy the final.
'"
We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one - for me he needs to be averaging a trophy once ever two years (the record Leeds have). If he can win on Saturday he'll have done this and i'll be happy.
Lets just enjoy the week

| The thread was derailed by AUOP in the very first reply to the OP. Still, it's been a good thread IMO. For me the quality of performance has been lacking for most of the season but, as we all know, it always comes down to how you play in Autumn, not Spring. Whether we win the GF or not I give SW qualified support just for getting us there, even if the images of our backs making the hard yards all season are still fresh in my mind.

Brilliant contribution as ever. This is the one coming from the guy who quit the board when he didn't like what other people were saying!
You do realise that people have different opinions to your own right.
The only 'child' i can see is you. Can you not see the irony that when we play badly you won't let an inch of blame be put at the feet of Wane but when we are successful it's suddenly a master stroke on his part??
Where is the evenhandedness? I've already said if we win the GF then he deserves praise but if we don't there should be a frank discussion about the success of his time as head coach. I'm not alone in saying this has been an indifferent season - you yourself couldn't be have been happy with some of the performances. Notice the word performances and not results there is a difference between getting beat and not performing (Cas, Wire & Cats away - Hull in the Cup etc compared to our last min loss at Saints).
I answered your original question so can you answer mine? IF we don't win anything this season how long would you personally given Wane until he wins another trophy? Are you just indefinitely behind him regardless of anything else?'"
But what would your answer to Charlie's question be? If we don't win on Saturday, so the "frank discussion" has to take place, who do you bring in who could do any better? I honestly don't think there is anyone at this stage. Not only are a lot of our players young, still learning and improving game on game, a lot of them have been with SW for years and would run their blood to water for him. Knee jerk getting rid of SW for reaching 3 grand finals on the bounce and bringing in a Powell or similar would be suicide IMO.
Last year we lost McIlorum in the week leading up to GF and Flower got sent off in the 2nd minute. Either of those things don't happen and we are back to back GF winners IMO. Yes the away performances and results need to improve and we've had two disappointing early exits in the cup, but it is pretty daft to be talking about getting rid of Wane.

| Wonder if Faz will consider coming back to RL now? You've got to imagine they'll have a coaching clear-out and no doubt Owen will get hung out to dry for getting sin-binned.

I've just read a comment on Facebook saying 'Burgess has again proved he's not good enough for Rugby Union and should move back to League'
It was a poor showing from him not being able to turn the game on its head in 11 minutes. I mean he touched the ball once and put a winger in the clear but still.

Top quality facebook trolling that. Surely.
Who else can't wait to wind up some rugger folk in town on Saturday?
'"
That's a very good point actually. Personally I'll certainly be bombing any union camera crews I can spot. I'm in town for other stuff for most of the afternoon anyway. It'll be a good game baiting the Eton schoolboys.

| And it's taken less than 10 minutes for some Muppet on 5Live to slag off Burgess. The blame game soap opera is in full swing. Priceless.

| First comment by the reporter on SSN when discussing Lancasters failings was him picking Burgess.
Yeah that was the main issue! They're unbelievable.
I hope Burgess has seen (heard) enough.
