| Quote leg_end="leg_end"I thought that was a decent game tonight. I've not seen a friendly where both teams ( and fans) were so desperate to win for a long time. First half was good. Ok both teams bombed the odd chance and dropped a few balls but it is pre season after all.
Second half and Saints had quite a lot of ball and pressure but couldn't open us up whereas we broke out and took our chances and made them pay. The last try probably made the scoreline a bit flattering to us but, hey, who cares.
As I said Saints had a lot of pressure. Maybe if Luke Walsh settles in they might be dangerous and a force to be reckoned with but I was impressed with how Wigan reacted in the second half especially when we were without Matty Smith and Locky and co.'"
Was it Smith who scored from the chip over the top? That was a great try. I can see you trying that at quite often with Hampshire/Bowen.

| I've just watched the tries on Wigan t.v.
Saints second try by Roby would never have been allowed with a video ref.
1) Lomax is in front of the kicker (Walsh) and inside the 10 when the Wigan player (Burgess) drops the ball.
2) It was Roby who passed the ball to the kicker (Walsh) so was offside when the kick was made.

Did you notice the knock on in the build up to your last try?

The build up wasn't shown, may see it when the full game is on. Swifts second try also looks 50:50 but you'd need another angle. Itf it was a try then it's a superb pick up from a poor pass.
Roby's was a definite no try though.

| Thought their pack looked awful tonight if they play like that this year they will struggle.
We looked strong tonight in the forwards, best have seen in a long time and that was a friendly!
Just my thoughts!

Haha.
That's interesting because I spoke to 2 mates and my Uncle after the game who were all stood in the Wigan end (not together.) They all said it was a clear knock on.

| Great performance last night especially the kids in the second half. All of the forwards played well especially the props. Taylor was outstanding. Burgess excellent. Smith was my MoM. Just a worry and it's obviously too early but Bowen was dreadful. The attacking threat picked up when Hampshire came on. I'm not sure what to make of it because it wasn't really a friendly both teams gave everything. Look at the reaction of the players to our last try. I think that Wigan got exactly what was needed from the game. A good run out against committed opponents
I am not judging because his pedigree is without question but - Am I the only one worried about Bowen on last nights evidence?

We'll know for sure when it gets uploaded to Wigan tv. Anyone know when that's meant to be btw?

He did have a poor game but he was on debut, I'm sure he'll pick up. If he's poor against Hudds as well I'd probably give him amd Hampshire half a game each v NZ and play the better of the two in the WCC

I agree. Hampshire will push for a place. My worry is that we've brought this guy over and we have to play him, really it wouldn't be fair to him not to give him a dozen games or so. But on last nights evidence he could be finished. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. I hope so.
