| At least that game gave a better indication of what the players were capable of. The difference made by having Powell in the attacking line was clear to see. He had a decent game, kicked well and defended brilliantly.
Manfredi looks like a very good prospect. He's built a little bit like Charnley and seems to have decent pace too.
Greg Burke was excellent once again. He just never stops tackling, always runs hard and gets in some good offloads.
Crosby, Greenwood, Tomkins, Hampshire and Gelling also did well.

Powell was the big difference. He is so much like Tommy L in the way he plays his game, but with a better kicking game. He's an ideal sub for me as he can cover 6,7 and 9.
I'm really pleased for Greg Burke, and Manfredi has been a very pleasant surprise
I can't wait too see how Hampshire and Williams develop this year in the U19's.

They did quite well. Against a much better team with only a few more first teamers in, I was expecting a worse scoreline. The spine looked much stronger this time around in particular, I still feel we're a bit sketchy on the flanks, and the forwards really shouldn't be rolling the much more experienced opposition - in fact they gave a good account of themselves and came back into it at the end. Our fitness across the board is a serious strength.

| Have I missed something or are the refs (yet again) trying to clamp down on the play the ball. Has a new rule been brought in because I thought silverwood was going to blow the pea out of his whistle

James Child was the same in our friendly against Hudds on Friday night. He pinged Hudds for five PTB infringements in what seemed like very quick succession. I think we were pinged twice for it.

| About time we did something to stop the ultra quick ptb. All it does is to encourage hookers to scoot from dummy half and kill creative halfback play. certain teams and players have abused the ptb for years.

Let's just hope the refs are consistent.

Well I saw Silverwood miss two from Hull KR, both of which were after Wigan had been penalised four times for it.
