| Quote Saint Simon="Saint Simon"Appologies for our minority of idiot fans, we all have them and i'm glad you all seem to realise it is just a minority of morons.
The thread on Rlfans was just asking a question if the incident happened, but the redvee one does seem to be a bit more aggressive, people drinking too much and posting drivel because they cant accept we lost a game.'"
Cheers SS.
We walked back to Pocket Nook where my daughter was picking us up and had no bother at all. Three Saints ladies (god bless em) slightly worse for wear "less chatting and more drinking" was how they approached us and were very gracious in defeat.
There will always be an element who can't handle defeat, and let's be honest it happens at ALL clubs.
All I can say is that I had a great day out, (thanks to the stewards and people in Peasley X Connie club for making us welcome) and a nice bottle of red was quaffed watching the Sky+ replay.

Thanks SS.
To be honest most Saints fans were fine but it was getting heated near the bridge with a number of Saints fans waiting for Wigan fans to come out of the ground, looked as if the police had to restrain quite a few of them and looked to be taking a few names down. All in all though a classic derby and good game all round.

| I can't believe how embarrassing some Saints Fans are! We were out played by a good Wigan team they need to deal with it.
I can understand people getting annoyed at Hock for throwing the ball after it hit a kid but to make away fans feel threatened outside the ground is just out of order it's only a game afterall. One good thing is the bridge and routes to car parks are heavily monitored by cctv so hopefully the idiots will get dealth with.

| Hock didn't aim the ball at the kid though did he.. Some are trying to make it appear that he did...which is unfair.

| I didn't say he did aim it but the ball shouldn't be thrown into the crowd by anyone! if that had hit your child in the face thrown from a Saints player you wouldn't have been annoyed?

Of course, that goes without saying... Point being made was that it was not aimed at a child deliberately.

If it was deliberate it was a good shot! obviously it wasn't but I can see why so many Saints fans are annoyed but some of the abuse is pathetic.
I think it needs to be stopped though I was at a game a few years ago and a ball hit an old woman in the face. Plenty more ways to celebrate and rub it in than that.

| In my opinion you have a chance of being hit by the ball at all games.. From kicks etc . If it hit my daughter I would be upset if it hurt her but I wouldn't want the player taking out and shot.. Or even banned.

| In recent years after a Saints v Wigan game I've been able to have a chat with some Saints fans about the game without being verbally abused, but not yesterday. Me and my mate were talking amongst ourselves saying "Our defence won us that game" When two braindead saints fans start coming up to us and screaming "Bentham won you that game you scum" Luckily they were braindead so we soon quietened them down and won the argument but it seems to me that recently they are just so bitter and twisted.
not complaining though, it is absolutely hilarious at times.

There were several Saints fans (women I might add) showing two fingered gentures at us as we went past the South stand after the game. Quite unnecessary. Other than that I didn't feel threatened as much as i did after the play-off game at the DW last year when a grown woman threatened my son and physically pushed him around. I hope these are just isolated incidents and not a sign of the times. It would be sad to let the intense rivalry spill off the pitch. Its just a game after all.

Was going to post something similar, what suprised me yesterday is that it was not the usual drunk teenagers here but women and even elderly people hurling abuse at wigan supporters - ive never seen that before!
Having said that i met a number of good Saints supporters who told us how they felt ashamed at some of the behaviour of their fellow 'fans'.
