Gaz Hock has been one of the most consistent players this season for the Wigan team hes getting better with each game he plays, hes running ability at opposition combined with hes ability to offload balls in the tackle tells me hes the best 2nd row forward in superleague, He plays like an Australians forward with hes offloading skills and this is why the Australians have been hurting us for years because of there offloading game and keeping the ball alive skills, No one over here has the upper body strength to offload like Gas can hes a threat to all opposition and rightly so.
Keep up the good work Gaz.

Quote: MadDogg "Nope sorry don't agree.

Incredibly powerful and skilful but is too much of a risk. Gives far too much away to the opposition and I refer to the whole of this season in that, not just last night.

If I had a choice between him and a more reliable, solid 2nd rower like a Harrison Hansen - it would be Hansen all day for me.'"

What a load of tripe!!! Hock terrorizes defences. His off loads are second to none and like someone else said its his team mates that let him down. Any side in the NRL would take Hock before any other.

I cannot think of a better back rower in this competition.

Edwards would have loved to play with hock. Shaun would have been at the side of him in every drive.

A few brain farts but his class far out ways them.

I said Man of the cloth because you seem to have a dog collar on. icon_biggrin.gif Cheers.

But what you see with Hansen is what you get. Hardworking "solid" 2nd rower. Outstanding in defence, but little threat in attack. Hansen doesn't have the ability to unlock the best defences in the league. Hansen doesn't have the ability to setup a match winning try in the way Hock does.

In 2010 one of the areas cited for improvement in our squad was in the forwards. Someone who can unlock the best defences in tight matches. Gareth Hock is exactly that player. He did exactly that against Warrington. Sure he made some poor decisions in that match, but under the way Wane coaches that's what you're going to get. He encourages his players to throw the ball around - not something I agree with. Under a more disciplined coach - like Madge - Hock would be one of the best forwards in the world.

I think that every team needs a Harrison Hansen, but every team needs a Gareth Hock too. Hansen and Hock make a nice balance in the 2nd row. Our back three of Hansen, Hock and Lockers is probably the best in the league for me. It certainly has the right balance in terms of defence and attack that I'd want in my side. I wouldn't want a team of Gaz Hock's, but I wouldn't want a team of Hansen's either. We're lucky in the respect we have the best of both. All home produced too.

Physically Hock is the best backrow in SL, and exactly the sort of player Leeds could do with IMO. I hope he stays fit and is ready to play against Australia. He's not the only British forward that could do with improved decision-making though - Sam Burgess is still losing a lot of possession by trying stupid offloads in his own half. Those kind of mistakes will kill England.

BTW Australia's forwards aren't better at offloads at all - they tend to look for offloads far less than English forwards. Where they smash England hands down is in playing as a pack and particularly their running off the ball in attack.

Quote: Baked Bean Boogie "nobody knows what anybody is thinking, if it is a set move then the player who was suppose to receive the ball is at fault, but how is anybody suppose to know when and where Hock is going to offload, if Hock has the ball then isn't it his responsibility to retain possession, offloading the ball to fresh air is nobody's fault than the person who threw it, no matter who the player is, this site is amazing at times, a few years ago you couldn't say a bad word about Lockers, he was untouchable even when her had done wrong, it seems that Hock has now taken over the mantle as the great untouchable, if a player has done wrong then it should be ok to speak of it and btw i hav e no hatred for Hock, i have even had him in my top 3 for a few games this season, my original problem with him was the fact he did what he did and still came away with a shiny new contract, i hope that if the same sort of incident happens again then the offender would be shown the door, imo it will happen again at some point, somebody will be stupid enough and i DON'T mean it will be Hock icon_guitarist.gif

Quote: wiganboy "AGAIN ill say it lol..everyone knws HOCK likes to offload even in silly postitions even my 2 year old grandson..even if the ball goes to ground there should be someone there ready for it happen..no one knws what sams gonna do half the time but theres always someone near by JUST INCASE.. thats what makes HOCK so exciting to watch you just dont no when hes gonna offload,,and there goes my point,, BE PREPARED for the unexpected from the hardest best 2nd rower in SL at the moment,,and maybe he got a shiney new contract just because of that,, hes a super exciting player, and if wigan hadnt signed him im sure there was a few tops clubs would have,, and you would be writing about how hes hurting our defence now, so well done wigan i say for standing by him, done his crime done his time.. now lets enjoy eh ?

Every one must relise by now that Bean has got a massive chip on his shoulder about Hock , he was calling for him to be sacked and every opportunity he gets to slate him he does , gets boring after 12 month

obviously you must be remedial, or just idle, because you surely can't read, i said he was awesome in attack but made a few mistakes, other posters have been making him sound like he parted the red sea ffs, i was having a go at them, as for hating Hock, why would i pick him for my top 3 in 3 or 4 games this season, i was against what he did and what the club did and i am over that now, but as usual you can't have an opinion on here unless you are part of the long running clique

I too agree with most people on here Hock would be the 1st name on my team sheet he lets the opposition know he's around.
