Most of us of a certain age grew up in a long era of Wigan dominance, which was a reign of terror for the rest of us. It was like being under the Thatcher government "we intend to go on and on and on and on".......

I grew up supporting the opposition whenever Wigan played because I wanted to see the dominance broken. However I think it's fair to see from the avatar picture that I have on these forums that there was always respect for the greatest player and the greatest team of my lifetime.

I'm getting sick and tired of all these opposition fans calling Sam "a cheat" - just because Eddie has highlighted something this past month or so.

Why have opposition players not tried this " trapping the arm" technique as well? In my opinion, it must be poor tackling, ie non -dominant tackling technique, to allow one's arm to be trapped in this manner. How come opposition players don't try to release their arm quickly - and please don't respond that they're afraid they might dislodge the ball and give away a penalty.
If that's the case, they shouldn't have let their arm get trapped there in the first place.

As with Eddie's/John Kear's crusade against Wigan's "tackling/wrestling technique" a few months ago, this is another attempt to sow doubt in referees' minds and make them more likely to penalise Wigan in future.

Will Leeds players ever get penalised for dissent - or will they have to wait for Eddie/Stevo to start a crusade against this?

From a result points of view, I'd personally want Saints to lose the most out of those 3, but it's been bred into me for years.

After some comments and actions of Wigan fans this season, our reputation as fans has certainly slipped and it's nothing to be proud of.

Hate Wigan, nah not me. If we don't turn you lot over on friday then I hope Wigan go on to win the GF, something I said on day one of this season. I like many stood and appluded Wigan a couple of weeks back when they clinched the leaders shield at our place. Everything is looking good at Wigan for a return to the glory days of the eighties and nineties, and with the players being brought in next season, I think Wigan will reign for a few years to come.

Then again, I'd gladly see us but the mockers on it on friday, you never know.

We needed something to invite even more people onto this board to have a go, we were running so short of them. Good work

I don't think very many people hate Wigan the club, or Wigan's team, or Wigan's individual players. Wigan would have to be hell of a lot better for that to start happening.

What people are reacting to is a visible fan base (I say visible because obviously not all are like this, but the ones who are are louder) who have quickly become the most deluded, entitled bunch of teenage girls in Rugby League within living memory.

Any joy that Wigan's improving team brings those people will be seen as unfair, hence the apparent hate.

lets put it this way..........in those days fans went to games to mainly have a few beers and a chat with their mates about what happened saturday night (we played sunday afternoon those days)..........away games were just an excuse for an all dayer.
fans expected a win, and mostly got one.........but a lot didnt even watch the match for chatting.

maybe thats were the arrogance came in...idk......but these days fans get behind the team and watch every move.....like they are actually interested in the match...

personally i think the 2006 season was the best ever for getting fans behind the team.......and to me was more enjoyable than the era of winning everything....as nothing was ever a certainty, and we had to battle.

but tbh ive watched Wigan since about 1958 and never thought of us as being a "team to hate"...........not like Man u in wendyball..........this hatred of wigan is a recent thing imo..........maybe brought on by the Lyhdsay era...ie....salary cap cheats.
