| Quote the flying biscuit="the flying biscuit"Aye the general publics heard of Amos Roberts havent they? and your other famous players ?........on the other hand Matt King, Adrian Morley Lee Briers everyones heard of them........ household names ....nay superstars
no disrespect to huddersfield, but they have more famous players than Wigan
And Saints V Wigan wembley finals only sell out because Neutrals watch in numbers.....
in a final that doesnt involve Saints or wigan the number of neutrals drop because not one single wigan or saints fan will turn up as a neutral because they are the filth of the rugby world and care only about their own grotty little clubs and couldnt give a toss about the wider game.'"
You're wrong there. Many moons ago people outside of our game had heard of the likes of Offiah and Hanley. There are no 'superstars' anymore. There isn't anyone i know down here who could name a single RL player whoever he plays for. The 'stars' you mention are at most stars within the RL fraternity.

The question 'seeing as none of the glamour/famous clubs are present in the final, what do the RFL need to do to sell the game to new people?'
NOT how many fans will they take. That question has been done to death.'" matey warrington travel in bigger numbers than any club without a final think about it

I think it's quite clear from my posts that I care about RL as a whole, and care about selling our game as a great product.

cast your mind back to the wigan catalan semi at the HJ, theres few dragons fans making the journey so warrington wolves, a proud rl/sl club. took up the slack to drum up some support, some more attendance and some publicity for the event. Of which we were proud to be chosen to host.
Was that seen as caring about rl and selling a great product? no wigan fans saw their s and had a pop at us for being sad s and sticking our noses in something that didn't concern us.

That's very presumptuous (and rather conceited) of you.
Seeing as you're the only one who apparently cares, perhaps you ought to answer the question yourself?

Whilst I can see what you're saying - would you have done that had it been Catalans v Hull KR say?
Personally I think it will be a great final. I hope Hudds win, but I think Wire will.

yeah it would, there'd still be a lack of dragons fans so we'd still be encouraged to help out or put our hand up to the rfl to assist.
thought admittedly, winding you lot up was a bonus, but as i say, the rfl like us as a club, we don't about on the salary cap, actually or spiritually, and they reward us by giving the semis and some of the smaller internationals.

| Quote wiganermike="wiganermike"I think the fact that Warrington and Huddersfield have made it to the final will help boost the competition. The fact that the final is the first since 1998 not to have at least one of Wigan, Saints, Leeds or Bradford in will help reignite interest for many fans of other clubs. There is now a real reason for them to believe they can do the same. This could well result in a boost in attendances for all rounds next season as the cup will be seen as a more winnable trophy.
Forget the BBC promoting it, they didn't promote the earlier rounds so I don't expect too much promotion for the final.'" I believe it is actually 1986!!! That is what has been quoted on another board.
I agree, that this game now has more attraction, as the fact that Saints have been in every final for a few years now hasn't been a good thing.
The fact is, we will never just attract the general public. We will get a couple of million at the most watching on the BBC, and they will be sports fans who aren't as ignorant as ROBINSON. They will understand the charm that this final will have, compared to many recent finals.

| Daft thread.
I think it will be a cracking final and it is refreshing to see some different teams in there.
I cannot honestly say who is going to win which is good as over the last few years Saints have been big favourites and won it pretty easy and had Saints won today they would have been strong favourites again with the likes of Long and a few others returning to full fitness over the next few weeks.
Looking at the two semi's I would tip Huddersdield to win. They were absoloutly immense today, especially in defence. Warrington blew us away first half but did their best to try and let Wigan back into the game in the second half. Huddersfield played well for the full 80 against one of the best attacking teams in the league and played some very good RL with it.
It should be a good spectacle and lets be honest both teams deserve their place in the final which is more that can be said for both Wigan and Saints.

Saints lost in 87. So yes since 1986 when Cas beat Featherstone (?)

You're right it was 1986 (Cas v Hull KR). I don't know what made me forget that we were in the final in 1998. Good luck at Wembley.
