| Yes, we should have kept Colbon over Phelps, but again, Colbon was the witch hunt victim last season, ironically by many of the people who now slam Phelps.
Embarrasing at times, it really is.

| Hardly had a 'blinder' against Leeds. Put in a solid performance at best.
Bottomline is Colbon is not the standard of player we want at the club as a first teamer, neither is Phelps, it's all a matter of 'a less of two evils'.
Colbon over Phelps for the CAP and quote space, but not sleep is lost over his departure.
Barrett is a massive loss. I really hope Piggy turns the magic on this weekend, people are losing more and more faith in him as a signing. Real knock of confidence as so many of us were looking forward to his arrival, me included.

Piggy clearly isnt fit I am more annoyed at Noble for playing him when hes carrying an injury than I am annoyed at Piggy himself.

Couldn't agree more. Colbon was a keeper. He would have improved as his confidence developed. He had the right attiitude and speed, and thats a start!

Sally Cinnamon - Treat the Saints forum as you would if you met a girl from St Helens. Best policy would be to avoid altogether but if you absolutely can't resist temptation then take every possible precaution.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_36121.jpg |

| now i'm no financial expert but if they did keep colbon on 30k a year that would of meant they would have 30k left and 1 space on the quota now what decent oversea's player is gonna sign for that money?
But they kept phelps on a rumoured 60k does anyone not think that its a good piece of business that if we wanted to free up a oversea's space phelps would be the man to go and we'd of free'd up a 60k wage packet as well and the fee may well drop for another player as a swap deal could take place

| Colbon left on his own accord and I don't blame him. He knew if he took the contract Wigan offered him then he wouldn't feature regularly, there was an article on sky sports the other week from him. Always gave his best and I don't blame the lad one bit for moving on, hope it works out at KR.

| Colbon wouldnt have scored either Ainscough tries or probably Roberts' try.
He wouldnt have attemped that pass that Ainscough made either. Looks a smart move now.

IMO we have better players than him in the team for him to be kept out so he's taking a wasted quota spot aswell.'"
Phelps is a wasted quota spot IMO but that hasn't got anything to do with Colbon and is certainly no reason to have kept him at Wigan.
Colbon would not have been handy to have as squad player either because he just isn't good enough. We have better players in the squad in all positions he was played by Noble last season which is exactly what you are saying about Phelps. So Colbon would not get a game either meaning the increased wages he no doubt got when he left would be a waste of our salary cap.

I am a shoe in for a start in the first team when I get back then.
Linking Colbon to Phelps and saying we should have kept the former because the latter takes an overseas spot, may be on £60K a year etc ignores the fact Colbon simply wasn't good enough and we have better players in the positions he plays.
If giving Phelps a contract was a mistake it doesn't make not giving Colbon one a mistake as well.
If Colbon was still here Ainscough would never have got a game IMO! Think about that given out coaches selection policy before ruing the loss of a less than average player.
