| Quote: NickyKiss "We turned up for just 14 seconds of that 2nd half the Red Vee TV lads said. It’s funny they say that and blame their errors for the defeat but ignore how comfortable we actually looked at the start of the second half, until Marshall knocked on. The Saints spell started on the back of an error and until that error I felt they looked a bit beaten. It was only 5 or 6 minutes worth of action but respect the ball, don’t make the error and get through another 5-10 minutes and I think we take it home quite comfortably.
Who knows? But Saints are hanging their hats on it being totally their fault they didn’t play in the first half and are pointing to a 15 minute spell of dominance, on the back of our error, as proof next time will be different. We’ll have to play extremely well to beat them next time and the time after that and so on but I think we can do it again.'"
As i've said before best team won on the day them.two are are just bad losers incapable of giving other teams any credit

He would indeed but I don’t think it’s the point he’s making. It goes back to Wilkins comments saying he thinks he’s gone past O’Loughlins best level already. That’s absolutely not the case, even though I personally do rate Knowles very highly and have him down as one the leagues best players.

That's debatable for me - Smithies is a few years younger and outplayed him on Saturday. No way I would want to swap him atm with the progress he's made this year.

I wouldn’t limit it to just the chuckle brothers saying we were second best for the ‘whole’ second half or that we only won due to a Saints error though, as I’ve seen similar comments across various platforms.

As things stand right now he’d get in. In a couple of years maybe, maybe not, we’ll have to see how it plays out.

So you're basing it on one game ? Lets see how goes the rest of the year eh?.

And Havard would walk into yours. That doesn't make him some kind of superstar just yet. Knowles is a good player. I'll even accept a very good player by superleague standards. But the amount of hype surrounding him is completely off the scale for what amounts to a grafter. As I say, we aren't talking a Sculthorpe or an O'Loughlin here. He never has, and probably never will given he's already in his mid 20s, be able to take a game by the scruff of the neck and win it 'single handedly' as those two could.
There have been many grafters throughout rugby league who would walk into practically any side because all sides need them. But let's not talk them up beyond what they are! Jammer's comments hit the nail squarely on the head. In a team of quality, the Knowles' of this world allow the star players to do their thing. That doesn't qualify them as being among their ranks. Smithies, for us, is doing a similar job. His graft allows the likes of French, Field or Farrell to do their thing. It doesn't put him in the same bracket as them.

To be fair, he's been doing it all year and we're nearly half way through the season.

Smithies has been excellent this season, so from that side it isn’t one game but I get what you’re saying head to head. We’ve had a great victory against you but we still have to be sensible. As things stand Knowles gets in a side in front of Smithies and even you wanted to play both, you could put Knowles at prop, no worries whatsoever.
He’ll challenge Knowles in time though will Smithies IMO.

| I’ve been honest on Knowles and I’ll be honest on Havard. Saints would absolutely love to have him, as would any other superleague side and many Down Under. He’s far from the finished article but he’s a very good player already. Scary to think how good he’d have been in a Saints side alongside guys like Walmsley, Knowles and Paasi these past couple of seasons.

Melbourne were up for signing Havard before his injury so he would walk into any team i think that it's just a matter of time before he goes down under and he would rip it up over there
