| Quote: Cruncher "The interesting thing re. Stuart is that, while everyone's calling him crap, it would be interesting to see how much money would be required to change hands were he actually to transfer somewhere.
I can't see that Wigan would want to part with the guy on a free when it may just be that he's homesick, and so, the moment he gets over the Penines, could start ripping the league up again.
A lot of people who are not Wigan fans are calling him - and have been doing since the moment we signed him - simply because he's at Wigan. But you wonder how they'd feel if he was suddenly joining their club.
I'd agree that he's not done a sterling job for us, and therefore is on way too much money, but I can't help suspecting that if, say in a month or two's time, he was lining up against us, we might see a very different animal.'"
He just seems to have lost the fight really, I can sympathise as I believe he carried our pack single handedly the season he arrived, and since then every team has just sent men after men onto him the safe knowledge that if they negate fielden, our pack fails.
If you put him into st helens, leeds or even warringtons pack, he would still look a very good player with the right coach as well. He's justt carrying too much on his shoulders and its taken its toll.

I was a bit gutted that fielden didn't go to aus for the world cup tbh, i wanted to see how he'd perform with a better pack surrounding him.

when fielden dropped that kick off in last minute in the play offs at leeds it was like dropping his plane ticket to oz down the drain.

That's an interesting point, I think I'd take him at Saints, but on a low amount of money, to see if a change of scenery would work for him. I've thought all along that he was one of those players that needed a change of scenery to refresh his career, but unfortunately for him he signed to a club with his old coach at the helm. a move to a completely different environment may have had a different result. Of course, the cost of him in both wages and transfer fees has had an influence on peoples reactions to his downward spiral.
I don't buy the homesick argument though, if he was that bad there is no reason he couldn't live over there and drive to work each day, it's only an hour and a half drive. Newlove did it for long enough with us.

send him back to south yorkshire. am sure he,s doing a better job making butties in his shop than what he,s doing on the paddock for us every week. was half decent for half a season with us: then big willie mason knocks his block off and he's gone down hill ever since. ( did ya see him against crabtree a few weeks ago) f***ing pathetic me 4yr old nephews got bigger b**ls

I'm talking personal opinion, I don't think it's a signing that will happen. There's also no reason he couldn't live in Yorkshire whilst playing in Lancashire, we're not exactly talking about a East to West coast of America type drive.

| I rememeber last year criticising Fielden for about the first 10-12 games of the season and then he slowly started to get into the swing of things to the point where at the back end of last year he ran into his best ever Wigan form and was one of the form props in superleague.
He's had 3 really solid preformences on the bounce now and needs to use this as a platform for the rest of the year.

20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

| He played godd against Stains, if he plays like that every week he wont get any stick off anyone and would be glad to keep him as with Coley. If they wonder why we slate them on here and go and put in performances like that and at times they have been total pants, we know they have it in them to give those sort of performances that is why we slate them, I wish they both played like that evry week, Coley seems to be offloading the ball a lot more and Fielden seems to be breaking tackles a lot more.
Keep it up lads!!!!

Coley seems to be running better angles (as he did at Salford), Fielden looks to be doing less (he hasn't completely eradicated it yet) Run. Stop. Hand off. and more run into the gap/player.
Carry on guys!

Nice spot mate
At the end of last season he ran hard and straight and was brilliant, he's almost got to the point of running hard and straight again Keep it up Stu!
Thought Prescott had his best game in a long time, some very powerful running.
