So now the fuss over the ground being too small has died down, there is no actual shortage.

Hmmm maybe there was a slight over reaction.

My only complaint is the price of the tickets. Semi-finals are a great chance for RL to show itself to the country on the BBC. We don't make a big enough deal of it. We should be charging 5-10 pounds for the tickets so that we can play the games at big stadiums and sell them out.

We need to build the semi-finals back up to what they used to be. A double-header at Elland Road one year would be pretty decent. Or maybe confirm every year that both semi-finals will be at Elland Road and sell tickets early.

At these prices though I will put up with the HJ, its not like each team could have sold 20k tickets. It will be a great atmosphere but I doubt any neutrals will turn on and think WOW, they will probably change the channel.

I thought it would sell out from Season ticket holders alone icon_eek.gif

It seems they are letting the casual (non-staunch) fan attend. icon_wink.gif

Plenty of time for the game to sell-out yet. Still one week and a day to go.

As much as I agree that lowering the ticket prices would bring more fans in, this tie should be selling out very quickly at this price. £22 really isnt that bad. We have nearly as many season ticket holders as the capacity of the HJ. I think some people buy their season tickets then dont like to spend any more money all season. This is a massive game and deserves a huge crowd in a suitable stadium. 25k at the Reebok would have been awesome.

As a complete side note as I am aware there is little comparison, both of the FA cup semi finals last year were priced £30-£60 at Wembley and attracted over 150,000 spectators over the 2 days.

Looks like we are on course to sell out the South Stand pretty soon, around 400 tickets left.

The thing is once the venue was announced any people made the assumption (wrongly as it turns out) that they would not get tickets people make alternative arrangements.

I have a group of mates who since they got older and started families and working they simply cannot do Friday night games all the time. They had ST's for years but no longer bother. They immediately "knew" they wouldnt get tickets so are now all getting together for a massive BBQ instead.

The only saving grace is that it will look great on the TV
and that the money for hiring a stadium has stayed within the game.

Maybe £22 isn't bad to you....

Remember that many people will be thinking they want to fo to the final and will miss the semi so they can afford it.

I say make the semi-final as cheap as possible.

The FA cup is a much bigger competition and has a lot more demand for the tickets. Man United getting a 30k allocation for a semi is nothing when they get over 70k at home every week and over 30k apply for pretty much every away game.

It comes down this... which would you prefer...

13k at £22 or 25k at £11

Classic non thinking from someone who obviously doesn't have sales background.

What about the COSTS.

With the best will in the world, even at £11 a ticket, we're not sending 12,000 people to a semi final.

8-9k went in 2007 for a game against Catalans.

The only reason we don't get so many is because of RL's lack of marketing.

We took over 30k to Old Trafford for the GF. There is enough Wigan fans, marketing is about reaching all of them and telling them to come. Make it easy and cheap for them to buy tickets and they will.

There is a higher revenue return with less costs for £22 x 13K (£286K) than for
£11 x 25K (£275K) so I'll take the 13K option please.

You're not doing maths or accountancy at Uni are you?
