Quote: 100% Warrior "And in the main I agree with that - I’d like to see the proof that mask wearing is effective (that’s a sincere request BTW) and as I was asked earlier by someone else the proof lockdowns don’t work is that COVID is still here.
But what next? When the vaccination uptake levels out, no more people want it, what do we do then? Carry on banging on about infections/hospitalisations? Have a certain section of society call for lockdowns and restrictions continuously? No.
We simply must live with COVID, there’s literally no other option. Wear a mask if you want, it makes no odds to my life. But eventually it should be treated as per flu would be and is. Life moves on and it’s time we started catching up with it.
FWIW I’m not into this ‘MSM media’ agenda nonsense, nor am I an avid watcher of YouTube videos, Twitter posts, Facebook nonsense. They’re all dangerous rabbit holes to fall into. I’m coming at this from the realistic angle of COVID is here to stay and life must continue. Are some people going to die? Yes. But equally, as raised by you, are people going to die in car accidents? Yes. Do we ban all cars?
I can’t see there being anymore lockdowns but if there are I won’t be abiding by it. Police can quite gladly knock at my door, I simply won’t be answering or allowing entry to my home. I’m getting on with enjoying my life and I suggest everyone else does the same too.'"
Lots of questions there so will give as quick an answer as I can
Face masks, I think most people acknowledge that they don't 100% stop the spread
however, 1 quick search at " are masks effective and I can find links to the Governement, WHO, BMJ etc who all say they help in reducing and should be used in certain situations along with other measures such as ventilation, distancing, regular hand wash, sanitisers etc.
Lockdowns don't work?
Well, I kind of half agree with that, other than with the 1st/2nd wave when we had no vaccinations there was simply very little alternative other than to social distance etc.
I've said it before, if we didn't social distance/lockdown and wear masks etc how do we know that deaths etc wouldn't have been 10 or 100 times more ???
Ill say it again and try not to use capital to upset certain people, at no point have I said we should have another lockdown??? Myself and others have pointed out when people have come on imo spreading lies as fact that they aren't facts I.e. Omicron is just a cold and/or vaccines don't work etc (IMO some.people are so worked up for their own various reasons they're focused on the argument rather than common sense).
Flu comparison, Your right, eventually it will, but IMO not just yet.
At some point there will be a shot just like the flu jab yearly etx. And we will all move on etc. But just like the flu jab some people will have to be pushed, reminded, etc to get one as they will either let it slide or they know best (a bit like this argument).
If people don't take it up again In future that will create problems
With regard ro vaccine uptake then I suppose there will always be some who won't take it, and I don't believe it should be mandatory.
However, I also don't believe that people should be spreading mis information to put everyone else off taking it because they've been down the conspiracy theory rabbit holes etc.
I am 100% certain that there will and has been a lot of preventable serious illness and death occurring due to people believing a lot of the rubbish and mis information from non MSM outlets. But somehow they don't get the same abuse from those people as the MSM (I can't believe I keep typing those 3 letters out if I'm honest, I may not agree with everything they do, but I'd rather listen to the BBC for example than 99% of the b00ll0x on twitter/fb/etc)
Living with covid
I don't disagree, but like the car analogy there may need to be certain safety precautions
We have traffic lights
We have seat belts
We have speed limits
We have drink and drug driving laws
We have age limits
We have tests/lessons etc.
End of the day people talking about freedoms have other certain freedoms dictated to them in the form of the law/rules etc. Yes, people break/bend them occasionally but common sense says that if we all abide with them when we can then things will be safer.
Would you say to anyone go and break the speed limit? Drink drive? Not wear a seatbelt? Etc
Yes they don't work 100% of the time but they make things far safer for EVERYONE (Oops, there I go again).
