Looked like the usual handbags at the PTB and then he threw a punch. Wasn't he sent off in a friendly for throwing a punch as well?'"
It didn't show the whole thing. Poore led with the elbow, then Faz was pulling at his collar trying to rough him up a bit on the floor. When they got up they were squaring up at bit and Faz caught him in the chin to provoke a reaction, which he definitely got.

Yeah, punching Ryan Bailey.
It's disappointing that the ref missed him leading with the elbow because none of that would have happened if he'd blown for a penalty.

Most of the time, we are winning. She says she's embarrassed to be a Wigan fan, well frankly, I'm embarrassed that she is too. This afternoon after Sam went in for his final try, she said that he'll prob get MOM now for that, when he's done nowt all game!!!!!!......'"
I'm thinking ankle length denim skirt, current home shirt and black bomber jacket with circa '97/'98 logo on it.

| Looking at the size of our guys today - Taylor, Spencer, Dudson, Burke, Thornley, Crosby etc the opposition must be thinking "What's going on here, I thought they were a bunch of kids."

Good to hear Burke played well again and good to get a win regardless of how it comes.'"
He got clobbered twice for his troubles. The first was very late and went on report and floored him. It looked quite bad at first but he got to his feet and went off. He then came back on again some minutes laterand got another one round the chops.
The defence for their first two tries was awful but we always had enough on attack partly down to playing against 12 men.
Very scrappy from Wigan overall but given the players we had out I certainly wasn't expecitng a canter against Wakefield who have not been playing badly this season.

| - The Poore/Farrell incident was daft and could've easily been avoided with the ref doing his job.
Poore lead with his arm into Farrell's jaw, in which he didn't like so tried to rough Poore up on the floor by grabbing his collar and a slight dig with the knee,, Shoved Poore in the face and got a reaction from him, receiving a beauty hit
- Just a note on Tomkins, can someone please have a word with him about his antics of flailing about the pitch like a salmon when he gets tackled?
hes a top player, and can produce some of the most ridiculous plays in the league, but he needs to cut out the diving about
Also I've not read anything about the Vince Mellars / Greg Burke incident... Just a collision with Mellars going for the dummy runny or..?
All in all, well done on the win and good luck for the rest of the season

I must agree it was a very scrappy game probably down to the amount of games in a short period we didnt have the same intensity, Wakefield came with a plan i think to ruff up our youngsters and there was some cheap shots in there like you said dave, Burke kopped 2 or 3 but to his credit came straight back on, i think he was our best player yesterday and set up a couple of tries too. Our defence was poor in certain areas Green and Taylor might be ran through the mill this week for a couple of poor efforts but on the posititve side of things i was very impressed with greens distribution he's coming good which is great to see. Gutted for tuson hes been in great form of late, like a new signing looks like another layoff for him. Bring on the bulls, selection headache for Wane!

| As others have stated, it was a scrappy game. I thought Poore had led with a raised arm before the incident that led to his card, so, in a way, it wasn't a surprise.
It was handbags thereafter, and it reminded me of Fielden/Mason...I don't think Farrell was expecting the beauty he got flush on the jaw.
Some poor defence for the first two Wakefield tries, especially the second.
At times we made hard work of making the extra man count, but, a win....they all count.

Thank you for the sentiments, but what Sam does at the play at the ball isn't breaking any rule, just the fact that it winds up the opposition doesn't mean he can't do it.
Btw, when he plays like he did yesterday I'm not bothered what he does as long as its not breaking the rules.

I also think that teams who come with a remit to spoil and slow things down can't complain when the opposition makes efforts to highlight this.

Also the treatment Sam got was quite ridiculous. So many high and cheap shots that the ref just ignored. Sam normally takes it well but you could tell by the end he was getting fed up with it.

I don' t know which is the more impressive - Poore's right hand or his ale gut.

Your having a laugh right? You had someone around the neck pretty much every tackle. The first two times (and possibly the only two) we tackled Tomkins you got penalties so where did the ref ignore them. I'll give you he didn't penalise Tomkins for trying to step off the mark at the play the ball and pushing our players when they rightly did not move to allow him to do so.

Give it a rest. Wigan were doing their fair share of slowing things down at the play the ball (Farrell tries to turtle the man every tackle, 2nd efforts and what not). Hicks allowed both teams to get away with it on the majority of occasions and only penalised it every now and again.
You can't blame our players for working within the parameters the ref allows, especially when were down to 12 men.
If you got a penalty everytime the crowd shouted for one (only time we heard any of you, other then when you scored a try), the world record for penalties would have been broken twice over.
Our team are no angels, but please don't try and make out that your team do no wrong.

I didn't. I responded to your complaint that Tomkins was making an issue of being interfered with when trying to play the ball quickly. Getting irritated when you're being impeded isn't against the rules either.
