You could equally argue why would people bother to pay to watch the regular rounds. What is effectively a series of friendlies before the real 3 or 4 game competition starts in September.
Undecided.

| Playing devils advocate here, for all the people who say it is just meaningless friendlies, what would you do if our on field situation took a turn for the worse and we ended up in a similar situation we were in 8-6 years ago? Would the regulr season still be meaningless or not?

In 2006 we finished 8th which would have qualified us for the playoffs. Did we deserve a playoff spot that year? More to the point, had we got into the playoffs we would have actually stood a good chance of reaching the final as we were the form team behind St Helens and had beaten everyone above us practically except St Helens.
Not only would that have made the system an absolute joke had we even qualified, it would have made the 27 rounds prior a joke as we were crap for 2/3s of it and showed up at the end and had a chance to be crowned Champions.

| Due to work commitments, I will not be renewing. However, if I could attend, I would seriously consider not doing.

| Just for thought:
Some on here have mentioned the lack of 'feeling' towards what are seen as the less glamorous weekly rounds eg Cas, Broncos, Widnes, and the poor atmosphere generated during these games ....... do you think this is where having a large all seater stadium actually works against Wigan? (and I suppose Hull and Huddersfield to a lesser extent).
There's a brilliant atmosphere when it's near full for a Saints/Wire/Leeds game, but when there's a sub 10,000, they get too spread out, and sitting down doesn't really help.
I know Saints fans lobbied against their new stad being all-seater, with the result being terraced ends .... not the side terracing some wanted (and Wire fans lobbied for and got), but at least gave somewhere where smaller crowds could still congregate to whip up a better atmosphere during the less well attended games. And, saving a few £'s is never a bad thing .... instead of paying £24 to sit alone on an empty row of seats, wouldn't it be better to pay £18 to stand together and get some singing going? I'm sure the players notice when a grounds quiet ....... and perform accordingly.
I'm not suggesting tearing out rows of seats, because it's a non-starter at most all seater grounds for football reasons, but what about (and don't fly off the handle and dismiss it out of hand - I'm not suggesting mergers or anything daft) if Wigan switched their games with Broncos, Catalan, Huddersfield etc (where away support is 'minimal' and even home support is tepid) to somewhere like LSV? 8,000 supporters in there generates a far better atmosphere than 8,000 spread out at the DW! Would this encourage people to attend these games?

There is no relegation any more so that wouls not be a threat. plus as mentioned we fininished 8th that season so dispite being beyond terrible we would have been in with a good chance of making at least make the semis and that cannot be right no matter what team you support.

not for me as games against cas wakey salford and the like aee generally walkovers and a complete bore. Even games against saints and warrigton meen very little as all 3 will make the playoffs. After all we got beat by wire twice his season and still finished top due to wire not taking the league as seriousky as they did last year.

| I'm sure there are weekly benchmarks for ST sales? It should be quickly obvious if they're 50% down on last year by this time next week.
My only concern is the hike we're going to see - I may sit in the posh seats but I'm not pawning any jewelry if it's way above the £240 for this last year.

| Quote: bewareshadows "If less people go then the RFL will have to look at the system as they cannot afford to lose peoples cash. If people continue to get season tickets, then they will change nothing.
In the end money governs all and if crowd increases continue, why would the RFL change the system?
In a way I know that when you finish top and don't win the competition it calls into question the system. However this only really hits one team. The other 13 like the top 8 as it gives them a chance and keeps up their fans interest during the year as they are still in with a shot no matter how slim. Those just outside can think well for a few games we could have made the top 8. Basically the playoffs keep up the hopes of everyone who can't be the best team in the league, and it depresses the winners of the league as there is more down side than up for finishing top.'"
It is down to the fans to make the RL take notice. Play off attendance were poor and I cannot see much interest in the internationals against Wales and France unless the pricing is competitive. I dont buy a season ticket yet attend regularly missing one home and 4 away games. I like the freedom to choose when i attend and preferring to know that my plans will not be altered to accommodate Sky or Latics. To throw in Monday night games when fans are expecting the usual schedules of Fri,Sat, Sun is treating the fans with contempt and money back should have been offered for those games.

The prices for the International final are £12/£6. NOBODY can complain about them.
The excuse of being priced out of RL games is a terrible one. I paid £21 to watch our Play-Off Semi Final against Leeds which is fantastic value to watch a great game, in a nice stadium with a perfect view.

| can't believe anyone should have any doubt about getting a ST it's fantastic value, i just wish they would find a way to include play off games, perhaps a few tokens giving cash off would inspire more to go.

Don't think it will be the prices that dictate the poor attendances for this. I stupidly went to the Exiles game at Saints and it was one of the dullest games I've ever seen. You'd have to pay me to go and watch some more of that "going through the motions" rugby. I've had enough for one year.
Back on topic, I will be renewing my season ticket on the basis that I have nothing better to do

That game was garbage, I agree. Think I turned it off after about 30 minutes. I'm sure we can expect many more considering who the England coach is as well.

Strange, I made a similar point to that you are making now a week or two ago in reference to Leeds to the affect that they did not deserve to be champions because of the way they have played for most of the season, and also that they weren’t good enough to be called world club champions. You said that they had done what they had to do to achieve these titles and so deserved to be called champions even if I thought that the way this can be achieved is a bit of a joke, which was the point I was making in the first place. Now you seem to be making the same point, that is, that Leeds could win today and be crowned champions, a name they do not deserve. The Champions should be the team that finishes top of the SL, and the GF winners should be just that. No one would say that the CC winners should be the champions, so why should the GF winners have that honour when both are played in a similar way. The point is The Champions should come from a Marathon, not a sprint
