| Gelling was sensational. The best player on the field by a mile. He looks so much more comfortable at centre and Goulding and Carmont should be looking over their shoulders for the last few games this season (not during games obviously).
Powell looks to be getting back to fitness which is good, put in a lovely Finch-like pass with Lloyd making a Hock style line break.
Greg Burke impressed me with his defence. He must have been the top tackler and really gets stuck in.
Thornley was hit and miss. He made a good break at one point and completely messed it by failing to pass to his winger but he defended well and made up for it with a 70 metre try late on.
Prescott looked like he was easily on course to make the side against Salford and was doing well as you'd expect and then the inevitable happened. If he's still playing in two years time I'll be amazed.
Fielden looked like he enjoyed himself out there and I wouldn't mind seeing him make the bench against Salford. He ran well, tackled well and while he clearly wasn't fully fit he should do well for a short stint.
Murphy going off injured was unfortunate as he started the game very well and deserved to score after an 80 metre effort but was caught by the very quick Dan Brotherton which is no shame. Russell moved to fullback but for me there's no doubt who the better of the two is. Russell just doesn't look comfortable, failed to take a simple catch to prevent a 40/20 and fumbled the ball near his own line and nearly conceded a try.
I also thought Ben Flower was pretty anonymous in his first spell and I can't remember seeing him return to the field later on.

| It'll be interesting to see who'll be the 4th prop against Salford now.
Prescott looks to be out, Flower needs a run in the 20's until I'm convinced he's over his hamstring trouble, Crosby is up for a ban after fighting for South Wales at the weekend and surely it's too soon for Fielden.

| Spencer or Burke could play prop. I'd certainly like to see Burke given a go as he looks very good defensively and loves to tackle. Has been playing second row recently but can play prop too.
Keiron Harrison also had a good game tonight but he's just too small to play at Super League level.
I reckon Fielden could be in with a shout though, although Wane will probably play Tuson at prop.

Was Sean Long drunk? On Jack Dearden's show he said that the 1/2 time score was close (22 - 20?) and that Salford were going well.

| I think there was only 12 points in it at half time. Half time score was something like 22-10.

| No surprises really as it fits in with how his years gone.
I think Fielden could step up now. Get him a game with South Wales next week and bring him back in to the first team at HKR.

Was he wearing 13?
Thought Lloyd was excellent (again), especially with the ball.
Gelling showed he could be a good centre.

Yes he was wearing 13 but playing right side second row. He seemed to be captaining the side too.
Lloyd's angled runs are fantastic for a player who is still fairly new to rugby league. He really does look like a great prospect. Gelling was just brilliant. Showed exactly why he was recommended to the club.

| Gelling looks so much a better player at centre... even if it is just playing at reserve team level.

I think Lloyd is a tremendous prospect and looks as though he has the frame to build on. His running line is excellent and has a decent pass in him (future 13?)
On Greg Burke, I'm not really sure. He doesn't seem to have progressed as much as I thought he would, however that may be because I had very high expectations of him. Next year will be a very important year for him if he is to make it to the very top.
Gelling was brilliant BUT I do wish at times he would back himself. That second half break when he tore down the middle he just needed to keep running in straight line towards the post instead of looking for a man to knock down.
