I've been a big critic of Whelan in the past but this statement would seem to imply that he has been quite co-operative in this case and has lobbied the premier league to allow the game to go ahead the day before the Warriors game so fair play to him. Ian Leneghan has done remarkably well and once again showed how calm he can be in a crisis by keeping everything in-house until there was a clear and definitive statement to be made. This despite continued criticism on here of the stony silence coming from within.
It also looks like other clubs have been co-operative and the only bunch to come out of this lot smelling of manure rather than roses are the ostriches at the RFL. They're probably far to busy organising additional rounds of Super League futures than to worry about any of the concerns of its member clubs.
It'll probably still all be Wigan's fault though in the eyes of many.

The RFL wouldn't be changing everything to suit one team. A number of clubs will have told the RFL about dates where their ground couldn't be used, and as stated Wigan told them last October. Off the top of my head SL teams who would have told the RFL about similar issues to Wigan include:
Huddersfield
Leeds
Hull FC
London Broncos
Catalans
So that's nearly half the teams in SL, it's just that circumstances have occurred that brought the focus on Wigan when it could easily have been one of the others. |

Was the article on the Wigan site written by a work-experience kid? The English is poor and it reads like it was written by a grumpy kid. I'm not saying my club's website is any better when it comes to grammar and punctuation, but if IL and DW wanted to make such a critical statement about the RFL, I'd have thought they'd do it a bit more articulately.
