| Quote OJ="OJ"Never thought I would say this but I have enjoyed watching Saints this year and think they have some fantastic younger players. Like every other Wigan fan I want to beat them each and every time we play them but that doesn't stop me from having some respect for the way they play and that game yesterday really should have been the final, nothing quite like a Wigan Saints game for me'"
It's no exaggeration to say that Wigan and Saints' youth set ups and production lines are on a completely different level from any other SL club. If only all other clubs produced even a third of the talent Wigan and Saints do, we'd be able to take on the Aussies on an even footing.

| Quote SaintsFan="SaintsFan"I think you might have this wrong, although I can't speak for all Saints fans obviously. What we at the match saw yesterday were two things: some very worried Wigan fans (like Saints fans, you go quiet when you're worried) and a Saints team that just lacked the cutting edge. We missed a halfback who could kick (the only way we would have overcome your defence in the first half). With the exception of the Stobart match, when we were trounced in every aspect of the game, Saints fans have been able to come away from our matches against Wigan knowing that we were just a bit off. 75-0 was great fun and we made the most of it while it lasted. But that isn't the only thing that rivalry is about. It's about believing that we can 'do you' next time out, and Saints have shown their fans just enough to know that that is a possibility. And I believe Wigan fans know that too. That makes for a quality rivalry (but not a fun one!).
Oh, and in recent times anyway, we have won a whole lot more than Wigan!'"
You are right, Wigan fans were getting worried when Saints scored two tries to get within 6 points. There is still the GF to play for and and I wouldn't be surprised if Wigan have to play Saints again. Losses, whilst they are not pleasant at the time, only increase the desire to win next time. That is why Wigan supporters are enjoying the current run of wins. If the two teams meet again this season then lets hope the game will be even better than the CC semi.

| Must admit by the time we left the ground we saw hardly any, of the ones I know phones were suspiciously switched off and texts sent remain unanswered.

| Thanks to all the Wigan fans for the nice remarks.
I really enjoyed the game yesterday and to be fair the best team won.
I have family who live in Wigan and they have been giving it large over the last 24 hours and who can blame them,if the boot was on the other foot I would do exactly the same.

| Quote Kebab From Genos="Kebab From Genos"Posted something on the wire board last week about how the game brings out the hatred for 80 minutes but apart from that there is a clear mutual respect between both clubs and sets of supporters.
As usual on there, I was shot down.. their main ammunition being 'its not a big rivalry because you both like eachother' etc...
I think when Warrington or both Hull clubs hear 'rivalry' they automatically think hatred, baiting away fans and bricking coaches, no place for it in RL. Over the last 3/4 season I've really started to enjoy the Wigan-Saints derby. Closely fought contests and a cracking atmosphere for the whole game, long may it continue!
Back on topic, I thought our fans were great yesterday, really roared on the boys with passion and I think the players knew that. Anyway, enjoy your day out a Wem-ber-leee

You were shot down because you chatted balls about Wire fans causing trouble....When we reminded you of instances of Saints fans causing trouble you disappeared...

Yes but did all those instances really happen?
You can not deny that, in recent times especially, Warrington don't have a problem with a minority of supporters causing trouble. More than most SL clubs.

Maybe they could play each other in the car park at Wembley.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there mate, there is a great deal of mutual respect between the 2 sets of fans because we both know that there is very little between the 2 teams.
As I've said on another thread, it's a pity that we won't be together in the final.

We get enough injuries to our biscuit based squad on grass, never mind concrete.
