HAHA - Its already been pointed out on this thread that both clubs have the odd idiots but the majority of our fans get along and have respect for what each others teams have achieved. Something that you as a Little Wire fan will never understand.

While I was in the coach car park waiting for the last two Saints fans(you always get them don't you) we had quite a few Wiganers come past us as we had been in the car park for over half hour and there was no baiting the Saints fans or taking the p155.
It just goes to show that their has always been respect between Saints and Wigan fans and long may it continue.

My girlfriend and her family & friends are Saints supporters and they enjoyed a good pre-match build up and banter with me and my daft mates.

They've taken the loss pretty well and I've had congratulations off them all via text.

However, I can't wait till we go to theirs for tea next week. I doubt the usual giggling when offering me ''some peys'' and ''carruts'' will happen this time....

Funny you say this i was talking to a policeman who supports saints and been the grand final every year and he said the very same things he was saying the atmosphere the last couple of years has been terrible and very hostile ,he was saying this before the game on saturday and said even tho there was the big rivalry between both clubs he thought the atmosphere was alot more of a happier accasion

There's an important difference between Wolfs and Saints fans. We might not like Saints and their claims to be the "Entertainers" etc but you have to respect them, particularly their achievements in the SL era. Their fans have responded to Wigan's resurgence in the right way. They have some fans who don't behave well but to be fair I'd say at the moment we have a larger number of idiots than they do (though some of that is down to the larger fan base). Loathe them or loathe them, you have to take them seriously.

The Wolfs though have more than their fair share of idiots (that's something of an understatement) and they add to this by making laughable claims to be a big/great/successful club, when their league record is an embarassment and their record against Saints is so bad that you suspect Leigh are likely to win in St Helens sooner than the Wolfs. Its very difficult to respect a club like that, they and their fans can't be taken seriously.

Looking at the rivalry between Saints and Wigan reminds me on Man Utd and Liverpool. Both sets hate each other with a passion on matchdays, but have repect for eachother. Wire reminds me of say Man City or Everton in the mix. Win 1 or 2 trophies and they big themselves up as world beaters. done nothing. You cant get a decent converstation or argument with a Wire fan as they cant see further than the Wire. Nothing else matters. This thread alone proves it.

Even now when a thread with one of the best posts ive read in a while a Wire fan has to go ninja mental and start an argument. No one cares about the Wire here your side has 12 months then most of your players are going for a pension. Must be an obsesssion for them poor buggers been the Everton of SL. Saint fans around where i was on Saturday were great bunch of fans.

Cant wait for next season.
