I'd rather have Hock than someone prone to assault charges e.g. Feka, Leon Pryce, Stuart Reardon, or indeed Hock rather than someone who punches people in the face and fractures their eye socket.

The point to all of this at the end of the day is that he has been given a 2 year ban as his punishment. Once he has done this he is as clean and innocent as the next man.

It is the same as Chambers, like him or loath him, he got caught and was given 2 years for it, he served the 2 years. Now whether you agree with 2 years or think it should be 10 or life is not Dwains fault.

He got the punishment and served it so thew slate is wiped clean, unless you are a past it commentator or camp hurdler in which case he should get more punishment.

Don't have a go at the guy who has served his time blame those that punish.

No-one is suggesting that Hock be, "reviled, cast out, marginalised, separated from his livelihood for the rest of his days, abhorred, exiled, treated like a leper." However he has had his opportunity at Wigan and blown it. He should be shown the door at Wigan and have to pick up the pieces of his career at another club. Also he should never play rep rugby again.

I think so, and we will find out in the next 10 days what IL/the club want to do. Though Im suprised a statement isn't ready to just box off the issue as soon as possible. Unless there is some disagreement somewhere along the line in regard to what Hock can/wants to do.

After his ban Hock will inevitably be able to find another club willing to sign him so Wigan have 2 choices - they stand by him and IF he can prove he can stay clean they sign him again at the end of the 2 years, or they let him go and risk him coming back in 2 years and signing for another club and performing well for them.

What you are suggesting it wouldn't be Hock who lost out.

Terminate his contract and get rid, Use him as an example for the younger players, what example are we setting if after his ban is up he come back with open arms? IMO it gives Wigan RL a bad reputation as well as a bad example for the youth.

The example would be that he's been punished and banned for two years. He's lost a huge amount of money, respect from a lot of his peers, the RL 'family' and the fans. He'd have paid the price for his mistake.

Gaz Hock took some none performance enhancing drugs.... whoopie friggin doo. 2 year ban is way over the top. Yes he was out of order and yes some punishment but not the public hanging wished for on here.
Other big named players have done worse... kick a door down and assault the occupant ~ no punishment from RL, 3 times over the drink drive limit putting lives at risk ( 3 big name stars ?) ~ no punishment from RL even the Refferee recently accused and cautioned with spot fine for drunken behaviour

~ no punishment by RL.
We are being governed by outdated laws with punishments and consequences often not fitting the crimes.
