Although I don't watch much reserve rugby, I must say that I haven't been that impressed with Stefan Marsh at centre (in his 3 SL games). Looks too small and lightweight to me. Thoughts?

I think his performances have been mixed personally. Plus points for me would be his footwork and speed.
If we can continue to ease him I think he'll go well. It's just sometimes the case that players don't always hit the ground running, Marsh hasn't but in contrast to that Charnley has, so I guess it just depends on the player and where their at in their development.

What little I have seen of him he plays very much with his head down, which is criminal at centre.

I completely agree. He is much more suited to full back and wing than centre.

Agree. I have seen him in reserves fairly regularly and always felt he was ball greedy. He's done nothing to change my opinion so far.

As much as i don't mind having utility players as back up, Hooker is still a specialised position and think Phelps would give less than our current options for next year in Macca and LuLu. Despite the slow start getting a specialist like piggy in was the right thing to do at the time and would be happy for us to try and get someone of the same calibre again. I think we have enough young players who can play across the backs marsh, charnley etc for us not to have to keep Phelps on

| Personally I would be happy to see Phelps go ,I know he has had a bad season injury wise , but why keep him when we have an outstanding back in Charnley. With Cahrnley at full back it would enable sam to move to half with Tommy going to 9, probally giving more balance to the team.
The same goes for Pryce, can anyone tell me if he is better than any of the lads on the u20s? or the misses?
With his statue he should be a world beater but lacks the agression IMO.Coupled with the signing already announced we should kick on next year.

| Don't need many signings to improve, it's more a case of development, especially with having such a young team.
Tomkins is outstanding at either FB or SO. Charnley is a real prospect, as is Marsh. Goulding has proven to be a good solid winger once given a chance in that position.
Carmont and Gleeson will provide the experience and cover till the younger backs develop.
Tommy, still a young player will become a great 9 with more experience in that position, he'll just need time to adapt.
Hock and Hansen to prop. Hansen is putting on size each season, he's a fit lad who will be an excellent workhorse 60min prop who'll tackle up all day long. Hock, as long as he can come find his stride on his return, will be an aggressive house prop who doesn't take a back step, he has the size and attitude to be a real hand full.
That leaves a potential choice of Lockers, Tomkins, Farrell, Mossop, Hoffman, Walker etc to fight for 3 back row spots.
Prescott doesn't have the aggression of Hock or the tackling workrate of Hansen, I don't see him as a potential future prop when we have others all ready in our team who could be a better job. O'Carroll hasn't exactly set the world on fire. Coley will be good for another season, Fielden another 2 with Lima already signed we'll be very strong in the front row.
Look inward to what we have then look outward when no one from our youth team can do a good enough job.
A future pack of:
Lima Tommy Fielden
Tomkins Hoffman
Lockers
------------
Hock (prop)
Hansen (prop)
Mac
Farrell
looks good to me, with that Davies will be looking to impress...

I don't think Harrison Hansen will be moved to prop. Lee Mossop is the only current player I can see putting a stone on in the off season and moving up to prop. I hope Stuart Fielden stays & we're able to find a replacement for Riddell - even if that is at the expense of Amos Roberts. If not, it's still an excellent side. Fielden, Coley and Lima will be our props for next season. Prescott's future still isn't resolved, but at 25 his best years are ahead of him - does that make it worth seeing how he goes? Ben Davies should go out on loan for another season for me & Eamon O'carroll can provide competition for places. Tomkins and Hoffman for the second row spots with Harrison Hansen on the bench. Liam Farrell & Chris Tuson will no doubt be included at some point in the season. Johnny Walker will be released. When Gareth Hock returns I think it will take him a few weeks (possibly months) to get back up to speed with training, adapting to the new training methods and regaining match fitness. So barring an injury crisis at the time, I think he'll spend the first four weeks in the reserves. Hopefully though when he is up to speed we should have a fit & firing Gareth Hock in time for the play offs!
Fielden Leuluai Coley
Hoffman Tomkins
O'loughlin
---------------
McIlorum
Lee Mossop
Jeff Lima
Harrison Hansen
Something like that for me at the start of next season. However hopefully by the play offs it looks more like:
Fielden Leuluai Coley
Hoffman Tomkins
Lockers
-------------------
McIlorum
Mossop
Hock
Lima
The competition for places at the club will be staggering.
